Do You Like to Bake?

Yesterday we discussed Cooking...today's subject is Baking.
Baking is typically done with dry heat in an oven but can also be done in hot ashes or on hot stones. The world's oldest oven was discovered in Croatia in 2014 and dated back to 6500 years ago.
I was never a master baker. I spent most of my time cooking. The most ambitious thing I made was a Boston Creme Pie with the custard, cake and frosting from scratch. My mother was a horrible cook; but she baked the best cookies ever! At Christmas time she would make at least a half-dozen different kinds of cookies.
Are you a baker? What is your specialty? Do you make bread, cookies? Where did you learn how to bake?

@LindaOHio The family who owned this house before were Italian from Naples. They told me that they cannot stand to eat the bad pizza they make locally.

@LindaOHio I make a chocolate slice that everyone really likes. I think you'd call it a 'bar' rather than a slice. It's made in a flattish tin and you cut it into squares.

I am not a baker, but long years ago I worked in Bakery as a Stall server in 1996 I think
In my house I don't have oven
We just buy cakes , cookies from nearby Bakery Stores

My mom hated cooking but love to bake. She taught me everything I know about baking and I still like homemade baked stuff but don't bake often anymore. I'm always trying to lose weight so I avoid temptation. I do bake around the holidays and make all sorts of cookies.

@Marilynda1225 Now I have a taste for cheesecake. I splurged and bought a frozen Cheesecake Factory cheesecake. We should defrost it and see how it tastes.

I used to make homemade bread in Latvia. Sometimes also cakes. Now I get an instant cake mix if I want to have something sweet,

I love to bake, but it's not always successful. I baked another batch of gluten free bread yesterday and got it sliced up and into the freezer today. My favorite things to bake are chocolate mint squares (glorified brownies), snowball cookies, and pecan pie.

My Nana was a wonderful cook and baker. I spent many happy hours in her kitchen as a kid. She made the best cakes and bread. I think I was a teenager when she bought her first loaf of store bought bread.
I enjoy cooking and baking, though I am not as good as she was. I think I have gotten better as I have aged.

I love to bake but I'm no expert baker at all. Just someone who likes to do homemade breads, cookies, cakes, pies some pastries here and there nothing too complicated or fancy, mostly just easy simple recipes I usually find on YouTube.
