Day 63 Luke 7:19 John, calling two of his disciples to him, sent them to Jesus, saying, “Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?” 20 When the men had come to Him, they said, “John the Baptist has sent us to You, saying, ‘Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?’” 21 That hour He cured many from infirmities, afflictions, and evil spirits; and to many blind, He gave sight. 22 Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things you have seen and heard: that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have the gospel preached to them. 23 Blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.” People run after celebrities, hoping they will be legitimate in what they project about themselves. When they exhaust all the information they glean about the person, they try to see them face to face by attending events they will perform at. Jesus was a celebrity among the people. Crowds followed Him wherever He went. People wanted Him to be important because of the miracles He did among them. Yet, there was still doubt among the people. John the Baptist sent two of his disciples to Jesus, asking Him if He was the Messiah, the One they waited for, or if they were still waiting for Him. Jesus told them to consider what they saw and heard: the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers were cleansed, the deaf heard, the dead were raised, and the poor had the gospel preached to them. Then He said to them, blessed are those who aren’t offended because of Me. Many Christians are like John the Baptist. They question what they see and hear, not fully understanding yet wanting to believe. They accepted Jesus as their Savior and Lord, but something held them back from fully believing the gospel message. Consider the question John asked was not for his benefit, but for those who asked the question, his disciples. John believed. He wanted his disciples to believe the evidence. Jesus gave them the evidence and told them those who believed were blessed. You want to believe; it’s why you accepted Jesus as your Savior and Lord. When you accept the evidence, and the miracles in your life, then you will believe and know God’s blessing in your life, and nothing will dissuade you from the truth you see and hear. Let’s pray: Father, open my eyes to the evidence all around me that Jesus is truly my Savior and Lord. Point out those things You did in my life and in those around me and let me never doubt what my eyes and ears see and hear. Bless me because I believe and don’t doubt. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
