Day 68
As Jesus spoke, a woman in the crowd shouted, “Your mother is blessed for giving birth and nursing You.”
28 But He said, “More than that, blessed are those who hear the Word of God and keep it!”
People credit parents for their children’s extraordinary accomplishments.
Jesus spoke many parables to the people. When He finished speaking at one point, a woman exclaimed that He blessed His mother with His teachings. Instead, Jesus told her that people are blessed who hear God’s Word and keep it.
Christians pray to draw closer to God in everything they say and do. They want to be more like Him. It’s not easy, but there are many blessings when you set your heart and mind to become more like Jesus. One way to do that is to read and study God’s Word daily. Another way is to pray.
When you read and study God’s Word, you will see how you should treat people and what God expects of you. Then, when people want to give credit to someone else for their faith, they turn the credit to God.
2 Timothy 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (NKJV)
By yourself, you can do nothing, but through the Holy Spirit, you can do all things. He gives you the knowledge to say and do what is right when you spend time in His Word. The credit goes to God and the Holy Spirit who teaches you.
Let’s pray: Father, thank you for giving me Your Word, for teaching me, and for being the Word in my mouth and in everything I do. Don’t let me take credit for anything You do through me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

That verse is from Luke, chapter 11.
Yes, when we follow, and keep the word of God, we are truly blessed.
Mary was privileged to bear Jesus, but she was blessed by God, because she heard the word of God, and obeyed it.
