I Need Prayer Tonight

You may remember that I went for a mammogram on Monday and since I had breast cancer in 2019, annual mammograms make me nervous. Rather than waiting for a letter from the radiologist, I call the doctor's office later in the week to get the results as early as possible so I don't have to stress out about it. I called the doctor's office today and she hadn't gotten the results back, but the nice woman in the office said she would log into the hospital system where I had the mammogram done and she found out they want me to come in and have a callback mammogram. That is NOT good news. I called to make an appointment and the earliest available appointment is for October 3rd. I already have an appointment set for my annual follow-up with my breast cancer surgeon on October 6th so she will have the results by then. I am trying not to stress out about this situation. I have had 2 callbacks for repeat mammograms in my life...the first was in my forties and came back fine. The second was in 2019, and the results were breast cancer. It is hard not to dwell on this and I am prone to anxiety anyway, so the next few weeks will be challenging for me. If you are a praying person, I would greatly appreciate prayers that I don't have breast cancer. Thank you in advance. Have you ever had a callback on a mammogram (or your significant other)?

I WILL be praying for you. My sister actually just had this happen. She got a callback for another mammogram, and it turned out she was just fine. We’ll just pray your situation will be like the first time it happened to you. You know how cautious they are these days especially. Understandably, they are extra cautious with you, and anyone would be anxious about a call back. We are here to support you, Karen.

@AmbiePam Thank you so much for those encouraging words. Yes, I hope it's like the first time for me, and I am glad your sister is okay. I hadn't thought about them wanting to be extra careful with me. That males me feel better. Thanks for the prayers.

I don't pray but will keep you in my thoughts... I've had skin cancer that had to be surgically removed and rectal cancer that finally disappeared on its own... Cancer is always scary. Good luck!

@Kouponkaren The doctors were amazed it disappeared... but after having the skin cancer removed four times, I didn't want more surgery. Especially when I was told they wanted to remove my hips and "see if that worked". I told them that if they could guarantee that would work, I'd think about it again.

@DaddyEvil You had rectal cancer that disappeared on its own? That's amazing. Is that something that normally happens? My dad had skin cancer also and had to have it removed various times.

Praying for you. I have had call backs on some things and they have been more that the image quality was bad. I hope yours is that case. I am glad you already have a check up with your cancer doctor, though.

Yes I have but then they cancelled it. I guess the radiologist had read it wrong or something. But I understand the stress of this especially since you have the history. Yes prayer for you Karen, so sorry about this.

@RebbeccasFarm Thanks for the prayers. Wow, I never heard of a callback that was canceled. Good for you. I hope that happens for me, but I doubt it considering my history.

@wolfgirl569 Thank you. I hope it's nothing as well. Maybe they are just being extra cautious due to my history? One can only hope.

You are in my prayers, Karen!! Try to find some fun things to do to take your mind off of it in the meantime. I did have a call back on a mammo a few years back but they found it to be nothing, thank goodness. Love and hugs to you!

@Kouponkaren Yep, the 3 D is what they gave me last time. I haven't been to an estate sale in ages! I'm going to try to get back to our auction next week. The last 2 have been a bunch of pallet deals from Amazon or storage locker buys that I'm not too interested in. I would rather see the old stuff!! That is all they had when we started going years ago. Now it is a whole new ball game. You never know what they will have.

@kareng Thanks. I had one of those also with the regular mammogram but now they are giving me a 3D mammogram so I would think if they see something on THIS one, it's more reason to think there's a problem. I am trying to keep busy...I just posted about an estate sale I went to today and had a blast. spent lots of money and now have lots of stuff to list on eBay. So that should keep me busy.

I refuse to get them or pap smears. So no. I'm not a huge fan of preventive diagnostic testing that is compromising to my health. Just to be told 'I'm fine' or 'no change'. I know they're designed to catch things as early as possible, but in my opinion the recovery isn't worth it. However, I will keep you in my thoughts.

@Kouponkaren I can't blame her. Diagnostic testing isn't fun.

I hope it is not. I never experienced since I am a man and no one received any callback to females in my family.

@Kouponkaren I can feel you. I, myself do not want to wait something like that. I cannot endure being anxious over something.

@Shavkat That's good that no one in your family has had callbacks. They are very stressful even when it turns out to be nothing.

@jstory07 I am prone to anxiety so "do not stress" is harder for me than for some people. Thank you for the prayer.
