In Ireland, they are setting up a new major. They want the upcoming students to be online influencers. This major is called the Bachelor of Arts in Content Creation at South East Technological University. The mindset behind piloting this new course is to educate the students. Once they complete it, they can be a self-employed influencer or content creator for a particular company. The application will start in November, and the class will start in September 2024. What do you think of the influencer course at the Irish university?

@Shavkat I hope they teach students how to influence for the good of society and not just to make money by talking nonsense.

That's very true. I do hope that they can teach how to use their money wisely. If ever they reach the peak of their career, they should give back to their community, too.

@xFiacre Most of those "influencers" are only there to take money by famous brands and suggest to their followers to buy them because they are the best.

I think it is a waste of time and money. The fact is that when it comes to certain things, you either have the talent or you don't. You can't create great actors, great artists, star athletes, great musicians, bestselling authors, superstar directors, successful entrepreneurs and so on and so forth through a course. If one has the talent, they will succeed. If not, they will simply have a wasted degree.

I agree. If we have the innate talents, then we can be influencers in our own way.

@Shavkat Not a single one of those influencers who make millions of year have a degree on their wall to show for it. Just talent. Or, what we consider talent to be nowadays. lol

@Shavkat Right now I am trying my hand at face videos, but who knows where that goes. I only recently started really trying. I can say this about making videos and that it is very time consuming.

I think it sounds like nonsense. Content creation is very varied and there are surely already qualifications for that, depending on what the content is. I would have thought a business or media degree would cover whatever it is they're intending for this one to do.

I also had the same thoughts about this matter when reading the article. My concern is having the self-employment to finish the course. I am not in favor because it is still better for them to work for a company physically to gain more work experience. For the content creator, we can still do it without having formal education about it. These days, some of these influencers are self-taught about knowing how to be one.

Well, I suppose there is a right way and a wrong way to do everything.

@wolfgirl569 I agree. I was thinking not to show my face. I can do some stuff on videos with my voice only.

I know that some people are aspirants to be one. As for me, I do not have the guts to expose myself online as a vlogger or an influencer.

I agree that being an influencer is not easy thing to do. They can be bashed and lost their subscribers.
