A funny thing just happened

Well kind of… I was doing some washing and I found that my top had a stain on the front. I don’t know what made the stain, so I thought I would try pre-treating it with a bit of neat washing powder to see if that would get the stain off. I moistened the fabric, then sprinkled a little bit of washing powder onto the stain. Then I left it to infuse for a little while. I went outside and picked the last of the tomatoes in the greenhouse. Touching tomato plants always leaves a faint greenish residue on my hands. It doesn’t look like much, but as soon as I wash my hands it somehow reacts with the soap to produce a vivid Chartreuse green froth. Well I came in with the tomatoes and washed my hands thoroughly, I thought. Then I went to see whether the washing powder had had any effect. The moment I touched the moist washing powder with the tip of my finger, I got a bright green sunburst effect, it was really like a magic trick! (I should have taken a photo, but I didn’t because I didn’t realise the photo issue has now been resolved.) Other than that, the washing powder didn’t work, so I ended up with the original stain in the middle of a patch of vivid yellowy-green on my pale blue top. At this point I put it in the washing machine anyway, before I made things any worse. But it just goes to show… you might think you have washed your hands thoroughly, but you really haven’t!
