Splendid views at our last house-sit

The collage shows our last house-sit house and some views of the surrounding hills. The black dots are cows. The house had rammed earth walls with additional add-ons having corrugated iron walls. The area is very hilly. I would joke that the cattle needed two short legs so they wouldn’t topple over on the hills. I loved the single tree on the hill too. There had been a ot of rain and the pasture was very lush. The two little ponies were on rations as they could become sick if they get too fat.

They do get quite strong winds there from time to time. That's about the only downside.

It would be perfect for me but I'd want more windows on the bottom floor.

The rammed earth is very attractive. They haven't really finished the house yet.

@JudyEv I figured it wasn't all dry and brown .I mean you have the costal areas and much .and mountains..but all the ground pics I have seen the areas look parched.

Most of our south-west areas are green. They get more rain than other parts.

@snowy22315 The powers-that-be like to push the dry and dusty outback vision but as you say, it's not all like that.

@RebeccasFarm Yes, it was. I think the grass was even thicker and more lush at the last horse ride. The horses thought they were in Heaven! lol

@Marilynda1225 We didn't go on too many walks while we were there. The hills play up with Vince's heart-rate.

@LindaOHio They were quite a way away but often they'd gallop down the hills. I did see too many galloping UP the hills though.

This is a beautiful place. I was going to ask what the black dots are, I was unsure if cows or sheep. There were many cows there.

very lovely home with 'ncredible views. gigglin' 'bout the cows. comin' from hilly country i'd not put much mind to such. 'til someone not from those parts questioned if'n 'twas humane. silly folk. those ponies 're prone to such with lush grasses. since i've still not gotten fences proper fixed, i hand cut that here when 't rained 'n such grew quickly. dried 't out'n the sun so's i could feed to the horses safely. i know, i'm weird :)

The pictures are really nice, it looks so peaceful there. Earth walls sound very interesting. I know our pioneers here made homestead homes and barns from prairie sod blocks, but that was long ago. Is the house in the picture with the earth walls, very old? Sounds really interesting. And iron walls would last forever!

I think the house was started in 2015. Rammed earth houses are 'in' again now. As is corrugated iron.
