Incorrect prices at Target

I went to Target this week. Everything I picked up from the shelf that I thought of getting I decided to use the price checker for before placing the items into my cart.
Turned out that for every item the price on the price checker was higher than the price on the shelf. And not by a little bit either.
I know this is a huge store but they should still make sure that shelf prices are updated. You can't go to the price checker for every item, especially if you are getting a lot of things. And also because the price checker is not available everywhere in the store.
I know in some stores if you tell them the price on the shelf is different they will adjust the price to that price. I wonder if Target will do that. And if yes, you'd probably have to tell them prices are different for most items you are buying. So you'd need to take pics of every price label (or write them down) so you can show them to the cashier at checkout. I doubt they'd go to the shelves to check the prices.

Maybe prices went up. But if they did shelf pricing has to be updated.

@RebeccasFarm do you shop at target? I don’t shop there often.

I defiantly doubt it. Which was right? the price checker or the stickers?

@lovebuglena Did you look at the receipt? Did it cost what you thought it should?

@kaylachan According to the receipt, I paid what the price checker said. So maybe prices went up but were not updated on the shelves.

There has to be someone responsible for keeping track of price changes and creating new labels. To me it doesn't seem that difficult to adjust shelf prices. Unless it is.

I tell the cashier that price is higher and if she does not adjust it to the right price. I tell her to take it off I do not want the item.

I'd think they have to adjust to the shelf price or cancel the item at the customer's request. If the real price is the one in the system and not on the shelf, they should update the shelf sticker.

Boy, that would be annoying. I hope they update their prices. Have a good weekend.

I have two friends who shop Walmart several times per week, and they said the same thing about Walmart--that the prices keep ringing up differently than posted. My local grocery that I grab an item or two a week if we need it, they are having the same problems. The manager told me, that in most of these cases where there is more than one store, a chain of stores, etc. the ''new'' prices are downloaded DAILY by corporate techs. The shelf tags, etc. don't show the change, because the store can't keep up with the tags--they barely have enough people to even run the stores. It's been a problem here for a long time.
Honestly, the only store I have found that actually charges me the posted price is Aldi. They must have a better system somehow.
Produce seems to be the biggest issue on prices here. If it says $1.79 on the tag, chances are very good that it's more. If I buy produce now, anywhere, I usually take a picture of the shelf tag. That way they will fix it when they ring it up.

My question is this: if the item rings up higher and you tell the cashier the price on the shelf is $X will they adjust the price to that amount? Or will they refuse? My local Russian store adjusts the price. And my supermarket does too.

@MarieCoyle if cashiers did price adjustments you’d probably have to do it for many items, which would be annoying and time consuming.

I don't really know, I think it depends on the store. My local market is a chain store, they always change it right there to the correct amount. But a big store chain like Walmart or Target, I have no idea--you might end up at the service desk.
