Uncle-Daddy...ME?!?

This morning, I was surprised that our twins started to call me Daddy. I was trying to fix the problem. I asked them to call me Uncle, but to no avail. The ending is that I let them call me like that. It means that they have two fathers at home. They call their biological fathers Papa and Daddy for me, respectively. Besides the point, I consider them my own. There is no need to question it. Thus, I am their second daddy in the family. How do you want your nieces and nephews to call you? In my family clan, most women are called titas. My niece calls my younger sister "tita mommy." In fact, he calls me "manong" or elder brother in English. My father was the culprit of calling me like it.

In my country, calling first names is not common. Unless we are the same age, we cannot do this.

@wolfgirl569 I agree. I had seen it also when talking with my relatives in LA.

My nieces and nephews mostly just call me by my name. The younger ones sometimes call me Auntie. I don't really mind, but I wouldn't want them to call me Mum or anything else other than Auntie or my name.

Unlike my younger sister, she wants to be called "tita mommy." She tends to ask my eldest niece to call her this way because she is still single at that time. For us, we call our father's sisters "tita."

@Shavkat my younger niece and nephew have a Spanish grandmother. They call her abuela. I wouldn't mind if they called me tia or any other version of aunt.

My nieces and nephews call me by my name. When they were little, they were taught to call me Uncle DE but as they got older, they stopped calling me "uncle".

Even though we were colonized by Americans, we did not adapt this by calling the first names. If they continue to be here with us, I am sure we will do the same thing. Uhm, I guess your nieces and nephews will not have Santa's presents this year. For the reason that they are not calling you uncle.

I also noticed this when working with American colleagues before. Some of my friends and relatives call me by my pet name.

I do have extended families' kids. They call us "tito for males and "tita for females. If I am not mistaken, these words originated during the Spanish era in my country.
