...the Japanese people to reproduce. If not, the country will stop functioning. Japan currently has a low birth rate, and the elderly population is very large. The fact that 13% of Japan's workforce is over 65 is startling in and of itself. But it is not sufficient for the country to be stable. That is why they are encouraging the senior citizens to work again. It's also happening in China; they abolished the one-child policy to a three-child policy.
Do you intend to continue working after reaching retirement age?
What should be done to address Japan's aging demographic crisis?

It is also a problem in South Korea. I think in Japan, their culture is so work obsessed that they don’t put enough importance on starting a family. Also, things are so expensive there! It costs so much to live just as a couple, let alone a family.

Great points, all work and no family means no people. I think all corporate life is driving people to just work and thats it. Nothing outside that. The sad thing is if you do not do that, you looked down upon and makes people go why would I have a child in this heartless world.

Yes the things are too expensive there. Few of my friends work in Japan they told me about it and how the old people work there. They have to work at old age because of less manforce and for money. I am fortunate that I am not born in Japan.

It is a hard thing to think about. Especially as most places there are too many people. But also many are getting older now
