I hope he arrives too. We don't have a washboard! But we do have a stream near our house, inbetween the strip of land behind my house and Netherstowe School (which was the School I went to!) but I don't think I'd like to wash my laundry in there! It's not the cleanest.

We can't be bothered taking our washing to the laundrette! I hope he shows up on Monday too.

@just4him We have plenty of clothes to last us. But it's going to be a big load, or several loads, when we get the new washing machine going!

Excuse me? We're not just "plugging" the washing machine. I know how to put a plug in! This is what needs to be done:- Switch off the (very stiff) stopcock in the cupboard in the kitchen. Move the (very heavy) tumble dryer off the top of the old washing machine. Move the (very heavy) old washing machine forward to be able to get to the plumbing. Disconnect the old washing machine. Take the (very heavy) old washing machine out of the room. Fetch the (very heavy) new washing machine from out of the garage and bring it into the room. (Which is a very small room with toilet and washbason as well as washing machine and tumble dryer) Connect the new washing machine to the plumbing. Push the (very heavy) new washing machine back into place. Put the (very heavy) tumble dryer back ontop of new washing machine. Switch back on the (very stiff) stopcock in the cupboard in the kitchen. None of this can be done by a couple of pensioners and a 54 year old who isn't strong enough to move a washing machine!

@sharonelton I thought your old washing machine was out. When they deliver a new machine here, they are OBLIGED by the Swiss law to take back the old one... I will never say another word about this washing machine problem as you did not explain exactly what the problem was.

@LadyDuck Well, I'm not in Switzerland! The delivery man who delivered the new washing machine said he wasn't really allowed to touch other people's property, so couldn't disconnect the old one, even though he did try to turn off the stopcock, which he couldn't do. So he told us we'd need to get a plumber to do it. And it's taken us ages to get a plumber to come!

Err. I am running out! I have just enough pairs to last me I think!
