Day 100 Acts 11:19 Now those who were scattered after the persecution that arose over Stephen traveled as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to the Jews only. 20 But some of them were men from Cyprus and Cyrene, who, when they had come to Antioch, spoke to the Hellenists, preaching the Lord Jesus. 21 The hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number believed and turned to the Lord. 22 Then news of these things came to the ears of the church in Jerusalem, and they sent out Barnabas to go as far as Antioch. 23 When he saw the grace of God, he was glad and encouraged them that with the purpose of heart, they should continue with the Lord. 24 For he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a great many people were added to the Lord. 25 Then Barnabas departed for Tarsus to seek Saul. 26 And when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. So it was that for a whole year, they assembled with the church and taught a great many people. The disciples were first called Christians in Antioch. Many times, you hear people say they are glad they did something, went somewhere, or participated with others in a specific project. Those who became disciples after the death of Stephen traveled to Phoenicia, Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the gospel to the Jews. When the apostles heard it in Jerusalem, they sent Barnabas to them. When he arrived, he became glad when he saw and heard how they accepted the Lord. Then Barnabas went to Tarsus to seek Paul and brought him to Antioch where they stayed with them for a full year. It was here that the disciples were first called Christians. As Christians, do you become glad when you spend time with other believers? Do they give you encouragement so your faith can grow? Do you give encouragement to others so their faith can grow and become all God purposed for them? Jesus said you are to make disciples of all nations. When you do, you will be glad and rejoice in what God does in and through you. You will find encouragement to continue doing God’s work. You will also find other believers to work with you to teach new Christians about Jesus and what He did for you. Are you ready to make disciples of all nations? Let your heart be glad and rejoice in what God will do for you. Let’s pray: Father, give me joy and gladness in the work You send me to do. Let me encourage others to fulfill Your purpose in their lives. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 24 October 2023 by Valerie Routhieaux The image belongs to me.

Yes, if we could encourage each other to fulfil God's purpose for them in the World, it sure would make for a much better world then too.
