In a City of London auction in 1968 Robert McCulloch won the bid( with a $2.5 million bid) on the old bridge that had spanned the River Thames in London, England since the 1830's. He then paid another $7 million to get the granite blocks of the bridge cut and transported to Lake Havasu City, Arizona that he had established. He died six years later. McCulloch had made his fortune in manufacturing trolley cars, implementing electrical powerplants in cities around the world, building racing engines, lawnmowers, and the McCulloch chainsaw. He had each block dismantled and then marked with a number and its position cataloged. It took three years to complete the project and there was much fanfare when it opened on October 10, 1971.

I remember this. That would have been a terribly complex construction. Have a good day.

I think I heard about that but forgot about it. That was quite an undertaking.
