Getting closer to having a kitchen countertop

I finally settled on a countertop for the kitchen. The store that will install it called me last week to let me know when the guys can come to measure things and cut out the templates. The lady told me it will be today but couldn't tell me the exact time or even the time window. She said I can call in the morning to find out. Before I even had the chance to do that, the guys came. It was some time between eight and nine in the morning. On one hand it's good they came that early. I got it out of the way and have the rest of the day to do what I need or want to do. On the other hand, it was pretty early. I didn't expect anyone to come at that time. Good thing I was already up and showered by then. Had our contractor not been coming today I could have still been sleeping at that time. And that would have not been good as I probably wouldn't have heard the bell ring and they wouldn't have been able to do anything. While doing the templates, they put the sheets (not sure on the material) on top of the bottom cabinets and drew lines underneath the template with a pencil so they knew where to cut them. Doing that they ended up getting the cabinets dirty with the pencil. Now I have to deal with getting it all off. Argh! Why couldn't they just draw the lines on top instead of on the bottom? The guys took the sink when they left. I guess just measuring it is not enough. I am assuming it will be returned to me when they come to install the countertop, which will be some time in November I think. The next step is to go the factory (or whatever it's called) and decide which part of the slab will go to which part of the cabinets. As far as I know the store will call me to schedule an appointment. And most likely it will be when hubby is at work. He will have no choice but to take off then because I don't drive so no way for me to get there on my own.

One step at a time. You'll get it done.

Nice. I like that. Our countertops are just simple run of the mill pressboard or whatever the hell you call them. One of these days maybe I will upgrade. I mean, what we have now is functional. But I do like the look of granite or even some of the composites.

At first we were looking at Quartz but then switched to granite. I like having a natural stone.

@lovebuglena I would agree with you on that one. I don't think granite will ever go out of style either personally. But who knows? I am sure in the 70s orange couches and Liberty lamps probably had people left with the same thought.

@porwest I don’t think I’d want an orange couch lol. But it would be better than our current brown couch. Hate that thing. Dirty all over and too many pillows with it. And I don’t like the color either. But hubby loves it. We’re finally gonna have to get rid of it and get something new. My mom’s repainting the living room so can’t leave old couch.

Thank you. I originally didn’t want to go with this one. I hope once it’s installed that it will work for out kitchen and will look nice.

@lovebuglena You have to wonder at some of their choices.

@JudyEv hearing the word Lennon doesn’t give away what color it is so why the name I wonder.

Thanks. It’s granite. The name of slab is Lennon. Wonder why they call it that.

Looks much better in person. Taking pics of slabs, they don’t come out that good for some reason.

We will see what will happen. I will wait a few days for them to call me and schedule an appointment. If they won’t I will call them myself. Hopefully it will be on his day off but that may not happen.
