Today's painting project - a work in progress.

Today I'm doing "square" lemons in acrylic. After lunch, I washed up, and then seeing as my step-dad had taken his lunch upstairs, I could go straight into the dining room and use the dining room table for my painting. I took everything off the table, then put newspapers down. Then I put out all my materials and my sheet of acrylic paper with the initial sketch on it ready. I started by painting in some of the leaves lightly with lemon yellow. Then I did some of the darker leaves over the other side while that was drying. Then I put some light green over the initial lemon yellow leaving some of the lemon yellow and some showing through. Then I did some of the mid tone greens. I waited for that to dry before I did some more. I did some leaves with the veins in. Then I filled in the spaces inbetween the leaves that I'd already done. When that was dry I put in a few twigs inbetween. What I'm going to do when I go back in later is put some more veins in some of the leaves. Then I'm going to use a palette knife to do the lemons, and try to make them look "square." I've been looking on Facebook at some of what the other students on the seasons art courses have been doing. Some of them have been really good. But some of them I thought, I could do better than that, or mine was better than that. But also there were some that I thought, that's much better than mine! Anyway, I'll show you the finished painting when it's done. Until then, carry on with what you were doing! I hope you are having a nice day.
