Day 111 Romans 5:1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. People justify their actions every day. Sometimes, it’s the only way they can live with themselves. Otherwise, their conscience would eat at them, showing them their faults. Paul told the Christians in Rome that their justification came with their faith in Jesus Christ. It brought them peace and grace to stand when times got rough. He knew firsthand that it wasn’t easy being a Christian. It brought much tribulation. He also knew faith helped them persevere in tribulation, built up their character, and gave them hope; hope given to them through the love of God by the Holy Spirit. As Christians, you also have this same justification by faith. You face trials every day from people who live without a conscience. They mock everything you do and try to bring shame to your life. Because you are justified by faith in Jesus Christ, you have nothing to fear from those who malign your character. Faith gives you peace of mind. With it, you have the grace to stand against your enemy. Your enemy is not the people who bring trouble your way. Your enemy is Satan who will do everything he can to cause you to doubt your Christianity. Faith helps you stand in tribulation. It gives you strength and hope. Hope will never disappoint you because it comes from the Holy Spirit who pours it into your spirit. So, when you face tribulations, and you will, stand in the grace and peace of God, being justified by your faith. Let’s pray: Father, thank you for the grace and peace to stand against Satan when he brings trouble my way. Help me glory in my tribulation because You give me strength to stand in the face of Satan’s accusations. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. If we stay trustful in God, this trust will never be eroded by Satan, as love, replaces fear, and faith emboldens us, together with the grace, and peace you identified that we also need to stand against Satan, and be firm in our conviction of God.
