This weeks painting project is going to be a fox in acrylic. The picture above is my initial sketch. I got the reference photo from the copyright free pictures site, then I had it photocopied twice at the photo expert shop, once in back and white and once in colour, on A4 photocopy paper. I drew a grid on the black and white copy, which was 5cm spaces across the top, and 5cm spaces down the sides, then I drew lines across and down the page to make the grid. On my sheet of acrylic paper I drew a frame around first, and then drew another grid on that, but this time the lines were 6 1/2cm across and down. Then I drew in each square what I saw in the equivalent square on the photocopied sheet. It's not perfect and I may still have to adjust bits here and there, but it came out as you see it above. That's if you can see it. Some of it seems to be a bit difficult to make out! I left most of the shading and fur off, except for a bit on the face, because that will be done with acrylic paint when I come to actually do it on Thursday. But I don't know how this is going to come out. It is a rather difficult subject, but I chose a fox picture which I thought would be easiest. Maybe I should have just chosen a close up of a fox head!
