Day 114 Romans 10:1 Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved. 2 I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. 3 They are ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God. 4 Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. 5 Moses wrote about the righteousness which is of the law, “The man who does those things will live by them.” 6 The righteousness of faith speaks in this way, “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’” (that is, to bring Christ down from above) 7 or “‘Who will descend into the abyss?’” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8 What does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 With the heart one believes in righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation. 11 The Scripture says, “Whoever believes in Him will not be put to shame.” 12 There is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over everyone is rich to all who call upon Him. 13 For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD will be saved.” 14 How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? How will they hear without a preacher? 15 How will they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!” 16 They have not all obeyed the gospel. Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?” 17 So then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. 18 I say, have they not heard? Yes indeed: “Their sound has gone out to the entire earth, and their words to the ends of the world.” 19 I say, did Israel not know? First Moses said: “I will provoke you to jealousy by those who are not a nation, I will move you to anger by a foolish nation.” 20 Isaiah is bold and says: “I was found by those who did not seek Me; I was made manifest to those who did not ask for Me.” 21 To Israel he said: “All day long I stretched out My hands to a disobedient and contrary people.” Has someone tried to tell you something, but you wanted to do it your way? You thought you knew better than the person who told you the best way to do it. Every day people want to do things their way instead of the tried-and-true formula that works. Paul told the Romans that Israel tried to obey God’s law their way, not the way God told them. They knew God’s law, but like everyone else, they thought they could improve on it. He told the Romans not to be like those who disobeyed God but to listen to those who taught God’s Word. He told them David and Isaiah pointed to the gospel and the coming Messiah. Isaiah told them nations outside of Israel would believe the gospel and receive salvation. Paul wanted Israel to accept salvation. Instead, they turned from the gospel and opened the door for other nations to know and accept the gospel. In so doing, the Holy Spirit led the apostles to teach and preach the Word. It was the only way Gentiles could believe. As Christians, you heard the gospel because people like Paul went to the entire world and told everyone who would listen about Jesus Christ. When you heard, you believed and accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord. You were saved because someone was sent. Now it is your turn to go and teach and preach the gospel to the ends of the earth. As Paul said: How will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? How will they hear without a preacher? How will they preach unless they are sent? How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things? It’s your turn to bring glad tidings of good things. It’s your turn to bring salvation to the nations. Jesus told His disciples to go and make disciples of all nations. Matthew 28:19 “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. Paul and the apostles did their work for the gospel. It’s your turn now. Let’s pray: Father, put Your Word in my mouth so I can tell others the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Let Your Word fill me to overflowing so it reaches the entire world. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 7 November 2023 by Valerie Routhieaux The image belongs to me.

I have a tendency to want things done my way; but it usually works out OK. Have a blessed day.

Even Jesus Christ had to do things in God's way while he lived here, and followed God's will for his life. We should live the same way as this too.

@just4him What makes it easier to get past our sinful nature is to maintain our love, faith, and trust in God, and his will, for our life.
