Might Price Check Aldi Today

It has been quite a while since I have been to an Aldi store. They raised their prices a while back and Ruler became the cheaper alternative. But I am kind of feeling a bit antsy actually and need to get out of the house for a bit. There are a couple items on my list I might be able to get there if the price is right. Not sure yet. But I am thinking about it. Maybe I will get lucky and somebody has abandoned a cart or two and I can scoop up a couple of free quarters. lol

I say go just to go - maybe it will lift up your antsy spirits . I remember when egg prices were crazy high . . . even Aldi's, who had the cheapest eggs around here, were crazy high. But now, the egg prices are "cheap" again - or "cheaper" anyway. People must be counting their quarters - I don't see any abandoned carts at Aldi's at all anymore.

@porwest Today, the eggs at Aldi's were 1.29 . . . marked down from 1.49. And you won't find eggs cheaper anywhere than that. Costco for the 2 dozen bulk would be my next choice (not sure what the current price is, I haven't bought eggs there in a long while because I hadn't gone). And then there is Trader Joe's for 2.99, I think. You are probably gagging hearing those prices .

@much2say Yeah. I am. But I'm not gagging on eggs because I wouldn't have them in my cart for those prices. lol

I went and did not find a single abandoned cart, so yeah. You may be right. People are guarding their quarters closely. lol. Eggs were $1.21 a dozen at Aldi today and the last price at Ruler was 99 cents, so I didn't buy any. Granted, I have two dozen in the fridge yet and don't need them. I likely would not have paid $1.21 even I did need them.

Inflation is a global phenomenon.. it's hitting common men badly. I hope that you get things at reasonable prices.

It's bad everywhere, that's for sure, and worse in some places than others. All one can do is do their best to circumnavigate it.

@porwest Yes, I agree. Global economy is not doing good and then these wars cause more turbulence. Well, we don't have much in our control. We can do our best to control ourselves and buy judiciously.

@arunima25 As Rush Limbaugh, a radio talking head, once said. "Sometimes you have no choice but to create your own economy."

We don’t have an Aldi here. They do have them near our home we’re moving to next year.

Most of the time they do have some pretty good prices. But it's like anywhere. You really have to know your prices and shop around.

I have some beefs with Walmart but no other choice, Both Aldi and Publix use Instacart services and when Instacart charged be for the gas to get the groceries delivered I switched to Walmart. Now Walmart has raised deliver from 7 to 9 dollars but I am used to the food and the prices are right for me, SIGH

When it comes to this sort of thing I refuse to pay extra to have it delivered. Plus, when I can't physically shop price, I am sure I am paying more for most of what I buy. But I understand why you may prefer it. But yep, you have to suck it up and pay when you do. Convenience is never free and always costs more. It's the price you pay.

Mostly we don't need coins here to get a trolley. We were always getting caught overseas with not having a coin ready.

This is only a thing with stores like Aldi and Ruler. I think Lidl might do it too. But 99% of the time you just grab a cart. The idea, I suppose, is that it encourages people to put their carts where they belong as opposed to just leaving them anywhere.

Hubs just picked up a smoked turkey from Aldi's. We will save $30 on the turkey dinner we were going to get from Giant Eagle. Have a good rest of your day. I hope you find some bargains at Aldi's.

@porwest Giant Eagle had them for $.79 per pound. The smoked, cooked turkey that we got was very expensive; but we ended up saving $30 over getting the complete dinner from Giant Eagle.

Hope you find some abandoned carts and can put some quarters in your pocket. I haven't been to Aldi in quite awhile either but hope you find the prices aren't too high
