Defending champions England have been pretty pathetic in the Cricket World Cup 2023. Trouble from ball when when we played just three seamers in 90 degrees heat. One injury to a seamer and you are stuffed. We were indeed stuffed. Playing Stokes as batsmen only was problem number two. Buttler is the current white ball captain and having the red ball captain in the team, and at just 75% fitness and so could not bowl, caused 'issues' in the dressing room and team structure. It was selfish for Ben to make himself available for the WC2023 as it was always going to unbalance the team. Problem number three was we didn't play enough warm-up cricket in India.South Africa did and look second favorites now to you know who. England need to win today v Holland just to stay in contention to qualify for The Champions Trophy with a top 7 finish here ( Pakistan in as hosts to make up the 8 teams). Stokes smacked a ton whilst Buttler limped off with another low score. Stokes is clearly bossing the team now. NZ look out of gas and must beat Sri Lanka tomorrow to stay alive. Pakistan can sneak through by beating England and Sri Lanka beating the Kiwis., Aussie will play South Africa in semi final one after Maxwell's astonishing double -century yesterday. Afghanistan's chances look over on run rate. India look unbeatable, 8 matches, 8 wins. They chased down 200 with ease in match one, 273 with ease in match two., They smashed 192 in the chase and beat the old enemy Pakistan in match 3 and chased 261 & 274 to win match 4 & 5. England manged to bowl them out for just 220 on seaming pitch but England crumbled to 100 all out. India annihilated feeble Sri Lanka ( 55 all out) in a big match yet again and then did the same to South Africa (83 all out). India v Pakistan final is still on.
