This post is about a kiddo. He is not a student we serve, but is the older brother of a boy who is in our program.
About two weeks ago he was at recess, and slipped on some black ice. Fell, and seriously sprained his arm. He recovered well after wearing a sling for a while.
Yesterday he was playing football, ran into a fence, fell and injured his hip. We do not know how badly. He is about 11 years old. He had to be transferred to a larger hospital.
I would say "no more recess for him", but that would not be fair. Right now the entire school has been told "no more football".
It seems we have had a huge number of kids get injured this year. Not all at school, but all coming to school in various casts, boots, in a wheel chair, with a walker, etc.
Another kid just had knee surgery, because his injury from last year healed wrong.
Poor kids.

I hope the accidents stop and the kids all heal quickly.

You can't foresee or prevent all accidents. That's what they are - accidents but I understand the school doing what it can to minimise injuries.

That's a pity that so many children are getting hurt. Have a good day.
