The photo has nothing to do with the post.
I wrote about the Australian film The Castle and how the phrase ‘one for the poolroom’ as become a common Australian phrase. The other saying to come out of the film is ‘tell him he’s dreamin’’ or ‘he’s got to be dreamin’’.
One of the sons in the film is always finding things to buy in The Trading Post. He invariably asks his Dad what he thinks about the product and the conversation goes like this:
Dad: What’s he askin’? (meaning how much does the seller want)
Son: (eg) $40
Dad: $40? Tell ‘im he’s dreamin’
By chance, has anyone else seen this film?I can’t imagine it being appreciated by anyone bar an Aussie but perhaps I’m wrong.

I’ve never heard of the film or the phrase ‘one for the poolroom’ I have heard of ‘he’s got to be dreamin’, although to be fair, it’s not just us blokes who do the dreamin. So it’s a bit sexist!
Is that ‘fair dinkum’?

@Orson_Kart Gosh, so much I want to tell you following your comment. The 'castle' reference comes from the thought that a man's home is his castle. I don't think we have any 'real' castles.
We stayed the night with Vince's BIL and he was talking about Bill Bailey's travel show. He really enjoyed it. I remember him from Black Books among other things.
At our last photo assignment we met the couple who had Stonehenge built. Actually, someone else started it but went broke. Long story really
I don't remember Albany wanting to break away but a guy in the mid west 'seceded' calling himself Prince Leonard. If you do a search for 'Prince Leonard' on here, you'll find the discussions I wrote about him.
I'd quite like WA to divorce itself from the eastern states. They look down their noses at us but we have most of the mineral wealth and have to fight for a fair share. That's how we see it anyway.

@JudyEv I think the phrase is ‘An Englishman’s home is his castle’, so that title fails on two counts now.
I did see Bill Bailey in Black Books, but he’s not really known for his acting. He is a great musician who can play many different instruments. He is also a comedian and I been to see a couple of his shows when he’s been on tour. It’s always a mixture of comedy and music. His comedy is often based on philosophy and observational humour. I think he’s brilliant. He’s also won the UK version of Strictly Come Dancing. I don’t know if you have such a show over there? Him winning was quite amazing as he was a man in his fifties with no dance experience and not very fit. Usually it’s younger people who win as it’s intense and physically demanding.
With Australia being so big I’d be quite surprised if states didn’t want more autonomy. Here in the UK, Scotland have been pushing for independence from the rest of the UK for some years, only just failing to get a majority in a referendum in 2014. Wales are looking to do the same. We are such a small country, I personally can’t see any benefits from separating, but to some, it’s the most important thing in the world. The second episode of Bill Down Under is on tonight, so I’ll let you know what’s being talked about.

I have never seen or heard of this film, The only time I really saw anything Australian were the two Crocodiile Dundy films which I loved because the second one was filmed in Australia,

No, I haven't seen the movie but we have a very similar saying here... Usually it's the person wanting to spend money they don't have (Dad's money.) that's told they're dreaming, though.

I've neither seen nor heard of it but then I don't keep up with new movies. I have heard both those teens before though. We say the later one here although I think we spell our whatever pronoun is used.

i recall THE outcry about this move as Bryan Brown wasn't init and he is in every Australian movie back then - except this one. I think Eric Bana was in in it just as Chopper was breaking huge.

Some people have a games room with a pool table in the middle of it and they keep all their trophies and sports memoribilia there. So something that is really nice and to do with sports or hobbies, you might keep it in the poolroom.
