Sometimes Inspiration Just Comes to You

Even when you are not looking for it. I mean, I write outside of here of course. In fact, in several places. And I have been doing it for a very long time. Not to say I am good at writing. But I am good enough at it. I like to at least think I do well enough at it. And as such, you build an audience. When people like what you have to say and how you say it? They kind of gravitate towards you. Writing and building an audience is really about how you tell the story or relate the idea. It's your perspective and your unique way of presenting things that drives in the traffic and makes them want to come back for more. In those venues I mostly write non-fiction. I talk about money and politics and current events, among other things of course. Being that's the content I write, it's not hard to find something that inspires you to write about. The world is my oyster, right? And gosh, there's so much fodder. Because when you write about money and politics and current events, there's just so much laid right in your lap to write about. That's to say the least. That's not to say it always comes easy. Of course, writing is a bit of work. And some days it is harder than others. Some days you just don't feel like talking. But then, sometimes something happens that strikes you. A news story, an event, an untoward moment, an observation and voila! It happens. Something to write about. I was able to write a new blog today and it was nice. Because that well was a bit dry for the last week or so if I am being honest. Oh, I had written other things in other places. But that blog? It was a bit dead for about a week. I just didn't have the needed inspiration to add a new installment. Inspiration sometimes comes right at you. Like a bar of gold. Like a revelation of sorts. And you go with it. You never look a gift horse in the mouth, and you never turn down an opportunity to write something when it presents itself. You just go with it. And it is very comforting and rewarding. I always thank my fodder. I am always very appreciative of it. Without it, how in the world could I ever do what I do and make a little money at the same time doing it?

@porwest it does. Every article has to have 600 words or more except for poetry. They offer challenges for big rewards and personally, I enjoy writing and posting there,

@RasmaSandra The only problem I might have with it is, is it geared towards interaction, or writing? It's like HubPages when I first started. The writing didn't matter as much as interaction. Now HubPages is geared towards writing, comments are shut off, and you are actually writing to be read.

@Tina30219 Writers know where to write and where the money is. It's what we do to keep the lights on, right? lol

There are several places I share my wares. I was doing this LONG before myLot was even a "thing." And will be doing it long after myLot is forced to close its doors. Which, eventually it will.

I do not consider what I do here as "writing." But I do agree myLot is "mostly" fun.

Sometimes I get stuck for ideas here but then there's a news item or I see something I think people would enjoy seeing and off I go again.

When it comes to writing, or even non-writing, which is how I generally define myLot, inspiration can come from practically anywhere. There are some days when there is a lot of it, only a little bit, or none at all. But the fodder always seems to come from somewhere and suddenly, boom...you've got something to write about. I WILL say the nice thing about myLot is that it can be about nothing at all and still be something to write about. lol
