Most people know that Roy Orbison was a member of the legendary Sun Records roster. Unlike Jerry Lee, Cash, and Elvis, however, he didn’t find any success on the label. It wasn’t until he moved to Monument Records that the hits started and kept on coming.
So, after he started having success, Sun Records owner Sam Phillips dusted off the previously inconsequential tapes, overdubbed them, and released them. Just as he’d done with Cash and Presley.
No “Only the Lonely” or “In Dreams” here, but hey, it is Roy Orbison, and the rockabilly vibe is great!

One of the moderators at the country music conference would always play Roy Orbison songs in their entirety instead of a “snippet,” and explain that the eleventh commandment is “thou shalt not interrupt a Roy Orbison song.”

I can believe that. What a voice he had. If you watch that [i]Black and White Night[/] with all those superstar musicians in the band, they appear amazed by Roy’s singing.
