I looked and looked. I went through my stack of 'stuff' on my shelf. It had to be there. Nope, not there. I tried a dozen different ways to find it on Google. Nothing came up. Where was my hard copy? I was just beginning to resign myself to the probability that I wouldn't be able to read it this year. Oh, that can't be. I will miss it so much.
Now I have been reading, or my grandmother reading it to me, for probably 60 years now. I love it that much. Well, silly me. I was not giving Google/Bing the right info.
The Mouse and the Moonbeam is a short story written by Eugene Field in 1912. My grandmother used to share a reader with me she had had in school. It had such stories as The (Little) Match Girl, one with a girl's first name in the story's title and then 'And the Indians', and, my favorite: The Mouse and the Moonbeam.
As most of you know I share this here nearly every year. I used to have one of those Little Book editions of "Twas the Night Before Christmas" and read to my kids(one daughter and two grandchildren) each year when they were young. I'm a traditionalist to be sure.
If you are curious or enjoyed it in years past below is a link:

@RebeccasFarm ......I think it's in my closet and my daughter didn't feel like bringing out boxes. I don't blame her.
