The photo has nothing to do with the post but it’s more interesting than a photo of dish-washing tablets.
Our products are sold with shelf labels showing a unit price as well as the actual price. This was legislated in December 2009. Before that, I could never work out which product was cheaper. Some products might be sold in 200 grams quantities and another brand of the same product in 250 grams. Such differences made it difficult to work out which was the better buy.
We needed to buy dish-washing tablets. One brand was on special but I kept looking then started to compare the many different sizes and the unit price of each. I ended up with a jumbo box where the unit price was a third of the cost of the one on special.
Sometimes, ‘specials’ aren’t really so special.

Those dishwashing pods can be really pricey. I ran in to the same thing--ones on sale were certainly no bargain. I've always done unit pricing. I think some people just grab items because they are on sale--they don't take a few seconds to check. Good job, Judy!

@JudyEv
So many people just grab what's on sale. They never check to see if it's a good buy, they just grab it because hey, it's on sale. It's really just a marketing ploy to get you to buy the product.
I am glad you do a bit of checking, and I'm glad I do as well. It has saved me a lot of money over the years, I know.

@MarieCoyle I do more and more checking lately. I hadn't realised there is such a huge difference in unit prices. I thought it would be just a few cents at most but sometimes it's more like a dollar difference.

In India the more the volume the prices are competitive. So at times I buy soaps, hardwares in bulk.

@JudyEv Until you're used to the way stores try to trick customers, it's not easy to notice.

Love the birds. Yes and sometimes the bargain size isn't a bargain at all. Have a lovely day.
