Well, it looks like we'll be here for about three weeks. The date isn't set in stone, but that's how long they think George will need in-patient rehab. He's quick to pick some things up here and there, but like me is anxious to go home. We just need to make sure he can do it safely.

A little bit of everything. He needs to re-learn a lot of base line skills.

@RebeccasFarm So far they are. George is a quick learner. And I'm hoping it won't be the full three weeks. We're taking it slow on the eating.

@kaylachan That’s completely understandable. But for a stroke, he’s progressing quickly it seems. For both of your sake’s we all just wish it were even faster than that.

To be fair, we've been a hospital setting since November 1st. So, we're worn out.

It could be worse. Is he going to get any passes to see how he does at home?

@kaylachan just wondered..seems smarter than just discharging him outright.

I don't think so. I don't think that's how they operate. They are micro-managing his blood pressure, and want to keep it "up" and they can't do that if I take him home.

@snowy22315 They would need a way to monitor him. So, I doubt it. You're right. It would be "smarter" but that's why they assess every so often and have a checklist. If his numbers improve, to a point, he's deemed safe to be discharged. No different than outpatient therapy.

It's a tentative discharge date. But, it could be sooner.

You two are going to need a vacation when this is all over. I hope it all goes well and he can come home in that amount of time.

I know you have to be so very tired of being there, and I am sure George wants to go home. I hope he continues to improve and gets to go home where you can be there with him and with Chilly. This has been a long haul for all of you.
