Every day George tries to do a little more. I still can't understand him sometimes, which frustrates him. However, by not understanding him, it's making him have to think, and problem solve. Not only did he get dressed (something he's been doing since rehab),but when he couldn't get me to understand what he wanted... he went into the bedroom to get it, himself. He even helped me set the clock. So, I know his ability to read is still there. Writing and talking are hit-or-miss. I know he's trying. That's all I can ask for.

I’m glad he’s not just throwing his hands up and giving up, but is fighting to get “back to normal.”

He's a strong fighter. Gave me a small heart attack when he climbed into the van. He just wanted to roll down the windows. So, I grabbed my keys, and helped him. He still struggles with multi-tasking.

You have to be patient and so does he. I am sure it is difficult though. It may take him a year to get back to his former self..if he does All you can do is be encouraging and pray of that is your thing.

So everyone keeps saying. However, in a lot of ways the stroke didn't affect him. And, the few things the stroke did.... are minor compared to others who've had the same kind of stroke. I focus more on what he CAN do, while being aware of what he isn't able to yet. Watching him do things he loves, is a sign he's motivated.

You have such a positive attitude in all of this, which is so important. It may take him a bit longer, but he surely has improved so much. You show your love every day in your support of George.

That is great that he can also think for himself and when you don't understand he can easily get things for himself, I hope he continues to improve and do well,
