It Is Sad How Some People Perceive Things

I have always been one to try to see both sides of any given situation. I don't see things as others see things. Never have. I do my research and see what the literature says about the history of things. I don't listen to extremists who believe their way is the only way. I look at both sides and then I decide for myself.
I remember back when I was a young woman. I have been a hippy since I was a teen. I had written a letter to my friend and ended it with a peace sign by my name. Most people know what a peace sign is. It's a circle with a chicken foot inside, or a line straight down and then one to either side going at an angle down to where it touches the circle again. My friend didn't like the sign. She is a born-again Christian. She sees the peace sign as an upside-down Nero cross. Wrong! It is a symbol designed by Gerald Holtom for the British Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament in 1958.
This mistaken idea is just one more sadism in American philosophy. Shut down anything you don't understand or agree with and make it out to be some demonic symbolism. Take the difference between the pentacle and the pentagram for instance. Penacle is actually French for talisman and is used a lot in tarot work. The pentagram is a five-pointed star, NOT a symbol of evil or evil devil worship. It is a geometrical figure that represents the five elements of nature which are earth, air, fire, water, and spirit.
Any ideas?
The picture is from my collection.

@just4him ......Just by turning it around. With the two points sticking up instead of just one point.

@celticeagle It's five-sided. How can it be upside down or right side up? I still see it on everything associated with the devil.

These lobbies of extreme people have become very obvious in the recent times. You see them doing all sorts of nonsense on social media platforms. They do these name calling and mud slugging on each other.

I try to live without trying to desifer what people think or
how they live their lives, it's hard enough trying to keep
MY LIFE on track as it is, if people would live their own
life & not other peoples lives this world would be a lot better.

People should be able to like something and not be ostracized.

If they don't understand they are against it. So closed minded.

I never heard anyone say the peace sign was bad. Have heard them try to say the pentagram is. But it depends on how you use it. I know it the way you do

I have a shirt with many of the different religious symbols on the back. Most people have no idea what any of them are for. Of course most are considered pagan religions and so many don't feel those are real religions.

Religions are such a bunch of hooey. I don't believe in religion or God. I do believe in nature and spirituality.

I agree about the peace sign being harmless. Have a good day.
