Today I started a new painting project.
I drew the outline of this earlier in the week ready.
It consists of a jug that is being used as a vase on the right, a bowl of strawberries in the middle, and a cake stand with cakes and a glass of milk on the left. There is also a serviette with a spoon on it at the bottom right.
The first thing I did when I came to paint it was painted in the window in the background with white with a little touch of black in it. When it was dry I then did the window frames. I wanted to use Cobalt blue but I didn't have any. I looked in all my paint sets and not one of them had Cobalt blue. So I had to use cerulean blue instead.
Then I did the tablecloth. I wet the whole area of the tablecloth first then added white and some violet in places. Then over on the right I added some cerulean blue aswell. When that was dry I added in the shadows.
I painted the jug that's being used as a vase using white with a bit more black than I used for the windows to paint the handle. Then I painted the main part of it white. When that was dry I painted in the pink flower pattern. Then I painted the dish that the strawberries are in using various tones of the same colour.
I took a break to get my dinner, which was sea bass with some leek and a couple of slices of lemon. I used some of the frozen leek that I got from the big Tesco the previous day. Then after EastEnders I went back to carry on with my painting.
I did the darkest green leaves first in the flower arrangement. I used Viridian but after I'd done it I thought maybe I should have used Sap green. I used sap green for the leaf tops of the strawberries.
I googled what shade of red strawberries are and the answer came back as Ruby red. I don't have a ruby red in my acrylic paints, so I went and ordered some off Amazon. I also ordered a set of acrylic paints at the same time which include Cobalt blue
and raw sienna and another colour I wanted which I can't even remember now!
I painted in the pink flowers adjusting the shade of the pink by adding white. Then I painted the tops of the cakes in the same colour. I added some grey to the sides of the cake stand to resemble shine as it's meant to be a transparent cake stand, but I don't know if it's worked very well.
Then I did the lighter green in the leaves of the flowers. I used sap green and lemon yellow for the very light areas and then I added some yellow ochre to sap green to make a kind of olive colour for other parts.
Then I decided to leave it there for now. I've got to wait for the ruby red paint to come before I can do the strawberries anyway. I'll continue it next week.
I hope you are all well.
I hope you have had a lovely day.
Have a great night.

Thank you very much. Yes, I'm glad I'm getting those paints. I ordered them on free delivery which meant they should be coming on Sunday but when I looked on my emails it said they would be delivered tomorrow (which is now today)! The ruby red is on its own and that's due on the 15th. Which means I'll be able to paint the strawberries next week!
I'm looking forward to showing you!

@LadyDuck I always do it on a Thursday. If I can sort my desk off in my bedroom I will be able to paint more often!

@sharonelton Already I’m transported to a little tea room in Buxton on a summer afternoon and I’m having tea and cakes with Miss Marple, my father’s second cousin twice removed. At the next table the reverend Shufflebottom, a large white napkin tucked into his black soutane, is about to sink his teeth into an enormous slice of Victoria sponge cake, and unbeknownst to him it is heavily laced with arsenic. Do continue painting.
