Winter Sucks

There are other reasons besides just the cold and potential for snow to hate about winter. And I admit, when it comes to winter, in general, if ever there could be a living, breathing Hate Smurf, that would be me.
Yesterday for mostly the entire day the temps were in the minus degrees Fahrenheit. At the peak around minus 6. This morning my computer is telling me it's minus 1.
It's a virtual heatwave.
My wife tried to remote start her car to get it going this morning and she told me it wasn't working. "Not working?" I asked incredulously. "What do you mean, it's not working."
She paused with a long stare and then simply stated, "It means it is not working."
Hmm. Okay. I tried it myself and saw the lights flash and heard clicks, but the car wasn't starting. So I got "quick dressed" and went out to try to start it manually. Same thing. Everything flashing inside and nothing but clicks.
I am sure the cold has sucked the life right out of the battery. So, the activities of the morning are, of course, now altered.
I hate winter and all of the crap that inevitably goes along with it.

Oh, I know what you mean. It's terrible.
I'm sorry you can't get the car to start. Don't you have a garage to keep the car in? A garage is very good. It's stops your car from getting too cold (or two hot) and it deters thieves. Those are the advantages of putting your car in the garage.
We haven't had any snow yet. But I'm not going to hold my breath!.

Our garage sucks. It's the one downfall of our house. It's just a one car, but quite small and we had trouble getting the Edge in there when we had it. Now the wife drives a Nissan Rogue and it would fit just fine. But the garage has become a place to store things. lol
Our house in Wisconsin had a two car garage that was very convenient.

@porwest I know what you mean. My step-dad uses our garage as a storage space. He has deck chairs and everything in there! Then the frost comes and he can't start the car. And I'm thinking if he could put the car in the garage it wouldn't get this cold and he'd be able to start it. We used to put the car in the garage when we lived at Southwark Close, so what changed when we moved house?
I'd love a house with a two car garage.

Hate it's happening. We hardly get snow, even we aren't left out.

That's a great picture. Reminds me of the blizzard of 77-78. I don't have to tell you how I feel about winter. Sorry about the car not starting. Have a good day and keep warm.

Yes, navigating winter is a "slippery slope." Give me my flip flops, shorts and sunglasses please! I am in total agreement with you. When your a kid it's great, no school, build a snow fort, snow ball fights, sledding. When your an adult it's just a pain in the a**.

Definitely NOT a great way to start your day and I'm a bona fide member of the I Hate Winter Club.
Certainly sounds like it's frigid there. Wow that's a lot of snow in the picture.

@porwest Before I moved to Pennsylvania we saw some blizzards in New York that were probably as deep as your picture. I'm all for counting down the days to spring and enjoying it staying lighter longer.
BTW I shopped at Walmart over the weekend and thought of you and your stocks . Hope my contribution helped

Yeah. That was from the blizzard of '011 in Wisconsin. It was a nightmare. Luckily, I have not seen snow like that here in Illinois where I am now. I hope it stays that way. But yeah, a crappy start to a day no doubt. Oh well. I will just follow @LindaOHio and her countdown to spring and it at least gives me some hope the days to deal with it are already growing shorter.

I also hate winter and wish could not have it but then we need the rain and up North needs the snow for skiing so I guess we need it. Do you take turns shoveling or does she do it a lot? When I had a car in the States I just to go out in the middle of the night to warm it up so it would start in the morning. I am sorry that your day was ruined by your wife's car not starting.

I can agree with you there 100% And I always worry about my car battery when it gets this cold....I should probably go make sure it starts and run it a bit, in case school is back in session tomorow

yep winter will sure make you hate everything
about it at some point, I guess this is 1 of them huh?
I take it you don't have a garage to put it in?? if not
then start putting a thick tarp over the front nose &
it will protect the battery more than just outside in the
frigid cold temps. that's what we do with our autos.

Then you complain it's too darn hot.
