God’s Names and Character God has a unique name and character in every book of the Bible. In this study, I will tell you His name and show you, His character. I will define each name and why it is unique to Him alone. Come along and join me as we begin our study in the book of Genesis. Genesis means beginning. It’s the story of God’s creation and the story of His love for You. God’s name in Genesis is Seed of the Woman. He is also our Creator. Day 1 - Beginning Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God (Elohiym, el-o-heem) created the heavens and the earth. 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. The Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. 3 Then God (Elohiym) said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. 4 God saw the light was good; and God (Elohiym) divided the light from the darkness. 5 God (Elohiym) called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. So, the evening and the morning were the first day. 6 Then God (Elohiym) said, “Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.” 7 Thus God (Elohiym) made the firmament, and divided the waters under the firmament from the waters above the firmament; and it was so. 8 God (Elohiym) called the firmament Heaven. So, the evening and the morning were the second day. 9 Then God (Elohiym) said, “Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear”; and it was so. 10 God (Elohiym) called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called He Seas: and God (Elohiym) saw that it was good. 11 Then God (Elohiym) said, “Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth”; and it was so. 12 The earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind. God (Elohiym) saw that it was good. 13 So, the evening and the morning were the third day. 14 Then God (Elohiym) said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, for seasons, for days, and years; 15 and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth”; and it was so. 16 God (Elohiym) made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night; He made the stars also. 17 God (Elohiym) set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, 18 to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. God (Elohiym) saw it was good. 19 So, the evening and the morning were the fourth day. 20 Then God (Elohiym) said, “Let the waters bring forth abundantly living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.” 21 Thus God (Elohiym) created great whales, and every living creature that moves, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged bird after his kind. God (Elohiym) saw it was good. 22 God (Elohiym) blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply in the earth.” 23 So the evening and the morning were the fifth day. 24 Then God (Elohiym) said, “Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind”; and it was so. 25 Then God (Elohiym) made the beast of the earth after his kind, cattle after their kind, and everything that creeps upon the earth after his kind. God (Elohiym) saw it was good. 26 Then God (Elohiym) said, Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness. Let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, over the cattle, over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth. 27 So God (Elohiym) created man in His own image, in the image of God (Elohiym) created He him; male and female created He them. 28 Then God (Elohiym) blessed them, and God (Elohiym) said unto them, “Be fruitful, multiply, replenish the earth, and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.” 29 Then God (Elohiym) said, “Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it will be for meat. 30 To every beast of the earth, to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat”; and it was so. 31 God (Elohiym) saw everything He had made, and, behold, it was very good. So, the evening and the morning were the sixth day. God – Elohiym is the plural form of God, showing us who He is: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; Mighty God. He showed us His character—Creator, having created everything with the word of His mouth. Then He created man in their image, after their likeness. Showing us His plurality when He said, “Let Us”. Everything God said and did showed us who He is, Elohiym, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, His creative nature. John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him nothing made that was made. He is the Word (logos) the Divine expression – Christ. When you look at the world around you, see the birds, animals, insects, amphibians, plants, trees, sun, moon, and stars, thank God for putting them there for your pleasure. Everything He did, He did for you to bless you and bring you joy. His name is Elohiym, mighty God. He is your Creator. Let’s pray: Father, thank you for being Elohiym, mighty God, for creating me in Your image after Your likeness. Thank you for showing me Your divine nature as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Let me praise You for who You are in my life. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 19 January 2024 by Valerie Routhieaux The image belongs to me.

I wonder where the Adam and Eve story fits into this narrative of God's creation. Perhaps, God created a prototype man and woman in his garden of Eden, and when they sinned, he then moved them out of there into his already created Earth. This Heaven created here is not the same Heaven where God himself lives in, as we know from Saint Paul that there are at least three levels of Heaven. 2 Corinthians, chapter 12, verse 2: "I know a man in Christ about fourteen years ago (whether he was in the body I cannot tell, or whether he was out of the body I cannot tell, God knows) who was taken up into the third heaven."

They are the only Adam and Eve in the story of Creation. They weren't a prototype. Yes, there are three heavens. The heaven we see, the upper atmosphere, space, and heaven where God dwells.

@innertalks In verse one, God created heaven and earth. In verse two, it was void. With all the study I've done on those two verses, and the fact God told the animals and Adam and Eve to replenish the earth, it was when the war in heaven took place with Lucifer, and God banished him to the earth, and His creation was no longer perfect. Darkness suggests God took His light from the earth, so it became a frozen ball, which is supported by the numerous glaciers and the ice age. The water over the earth also suggests the first flood. In verse three, God brought everything He created in verse one back into being. You see that with the word LET. So that when God told Adam and Eve to replenish the earth, it's what they needed to do. Up until they sinned, they didn't multiply, have children, which is what they started doing in chapter four after God banished them from the garden of Eden.

@just4him Well, it says in the above version, in your study, that God created man and woman, telling them to multiply over the Earth, and yet, Adam and Eve, seemed to be on their own, in the garden, and were not supposed to multiply at that stage either. Adam and Eve were meant to stay in Paradise, and their punishment for sinning was banishment from the Garden, down to Earth. God told the man and the woman, created on the Earth, to multiply, and to replenish the Earth, suggesting that there was something there before, and that the Earth was emptied, and had to be replenished again now.
