O'Reilly's It Is, Then

Auto Zone is usually the place I go to if I need to replace a battery or wiper blades. Not that I can't install these things myself. But they do it or free, so why not just have THEM do it for me? Yesterday when my wife was tooling around with my mom she noticed the left windshield wiper had broken off, and of course we have rain and ice storms in the area over the next week. Not that mom will go anywhere necessarily if the weather is bad. But in case she needs to, it would be wise to have wipers that work. So, we took the car over to Auto Zone only to be presented with a sign on the door. "No outside work due to weather. Thanks. Management." Okay. Fine. No business for you if you aren't going to do your job DESPITE the weather, which is the reason I am THERE. So, we went down the street to O'Reilly's and no problem, they installed the wipers for my mom's car. I tried to give the kid a $10 tip but he wouldn't take it. As for Auto Zone? Glad you didn't need my business. I will remember that the NEXT time I need something and probably return to O'Reilly's.

That's a bummer about AutoZone not doing it because of weather - I always liked them because they helped install our headlight even though they said technically they don't do that. But that's good that Oreilly's was doing that despite the weather being bad...

O'Reilly's has definitely earned some repeat business from me as a result of it.

Don’t forget that O’Reilly’s gives veterans a 10% discount, too.

Yes. They do. I never go after it unless they ask of course. More honored to have served than to be honored for having served—even though I am cheap. lol

@porwest — I love getting a discount at restaurants, then I give it back to the wait staff with a bigger tip.

@FourWalls That's a good idea. I do that when I use a gift card or coupon. Kinda sorta, I guess. I don't subtract what I didn't actually spend from the bill but tip based on what the bill would have been.

Good choice on your part. We had our windscreen replaced yesterday - just had to back it out of the garage a little.

That can be expensive. The last time I had one done, and that was a while ago, I swear I paid around $300-$500. But it was one of those too where they came to me to do it.

I'm glad O'Reilly's was able to help you. Have a good day and stay safe if it's icy. All the schools are either closing here or starting late. These kids have been off more than they've gone to school this season. lololol

They earned some repeat business on this one, even if it is a minor thing in the grander scheme of things. I may not return to Auto Zone for a while.
