Day 7 – Remnant Genesis 7:1 Then the LORD (Jehovah) said to Noah, “Come into the ark, you and all your household, because I have seen you are righteous before Me in this generation. 2 You will take with you seven each of every clean animal, a male, and his female; two each of unclean animals, a male, and his female; 3 also seven each of birds of the air, male and female, to keep the species alive on the face of all the earth. 4 For after seven more days I will cause it to rain on the earth forty days and forty nights, and I will destroy from the face of the earth all living things that I have made.” 5 Noah did according to everything the LORD (Jehovah) commanded him. 6 Noah was six hundred years old when the floodwaters were on the earth. 7 So Noah, with his sons, his wife, and his sons’ wives, went into the ark because of the waters of the flood. 8 Of clean animals, of unclean animals, of birds, and of every creeping thing on the earth, 9 two by two they went into the ark to Noah, male and female, as God commanded Noah. 10 It happened after seven days the flood waters were on the earth. 11 In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, on that day the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. 12 Rain was on the earth forty days and forty nights. 13 On the same day Noah and Noah’s sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth, and Noah’s wife and the three wives of his sons with them, entered the ark— 14 they and every beast after its kind, all cattle after their kind, every creeping thing that creeps on the earth after its kind, and every bird after its kind, every bird of every sort. 15 They went into the ark to Noah, two by two, of all flesh in which is the breath of life. 16 So those that entered, male and female of all flesh, went in as God (Elohiym) had commanded him; and the LORD (Jehovah) shut him in. 17 Now the flood was on the earth forty days. The waters increased and lifted up the ark, and it rose high above the earth. 18 The waters prevailed and increased on the earth, and the ark moved about on the surface of the waters. 19 The waters prevailed on the earth and covered all the high hills under heaven. 20 The waters prevailed twenty-two-and-a-half feet upward and covered the mountains. 21 All flesh died that moved on the earth: birds, cattle, beasts, every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, and every man. 22 All in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life, all that was on the dry land, died. 23 So He destroyed all living things which were on the face of the ground: both man and cattle, creeping thing, and bird of the air. They were destroyed from the earth. Only Noah and those with him in the ark remained alive. 24 And the waters prevailed on the earth one-hundred-fifty days. God’s name: Elohiym – Mighty God Jehovah – Self-existent, eternal Yeshuwa – Messiah, Mashiyach Kurios – Supreme authority, Master, God, Lord, master, Sir God’s character: Merciful, Judge, Savior How often do you promise something but don’t follow through? People come to expect you don’t mean what you say and scorn and laugh at you and continue in their ways. God (Elohiym) told Noah to build an ark because He would destroy the earth. Noah was five-hundred years old when Jehovah instructed him to build the ark and six-hundred years old when Jehovah shut him and his family into the ark. Elohiym kept His promise. Genesis 5:32 Noah was five-hundred years old, and Noah sired Shem, Ham, and Japheth. God (Elohiym) knew everything on earth would die in the flood, so He commanded every beast, bird, and creeping thing to come into the ark for safety. Two of the unclean animals and seven of clean animals remained alive with Noah and his family. People used only clean animals in their sacrifices, so God (Elohiym) commanded seven of each to come into the ark. God (Elohiym) always saved a remnant when He kept His promises to His chosen people. Noah, his family, and everything in the ark with them, were a remnant of His creation. They would replenish the earth. People are no different today than they were in Noah’s day. They see Jesus (Yeshuwa) hasn’t kept His promise to return and destroy the earth by fire. Therefore, they don’t believe God (Elohiym) exists and scoff as they did in Noah’s day. Matthew 24:37 “As the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 38 For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying, and giving in marriage, until the day Noah entered the ark, 39 and did not know until the flood took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 2 Peter 3:7 The heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. God (Elohiym) is patient, not willing for anyone to perish. 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord (Kurios, koo'-ree-os) is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. (NKJV) Jesus (Yeshuwa) gave us signs to look for, including the sign of Noah and the flood, for His return. Today you see the signs Yeshuwa gave His disciples, even the sign of Noah. People behave in the same way today as they did then. People do whatever they want without fear of consequences. When will the scoffing stop? When they see the Son of Man returning in the clouds. Every eye will see Him. When Jesus (Yeshuwa) ascended into heaven, angels told the disciples He would return the same way. Acts 1:10 While they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, 11 who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing into heaven? This same Jesus (Yeshuwa), who was taken from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.” Revelation 1:7 Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen. (NKJV) God (Elohiym) saved Noah, his family, and everything in the ark with him from the flood. He will save you too if you believe in Him. Will you be part of His remnant when He returns, or will you depart from Him into Hell because of your unbelief? The choice is yours. Let’s pray: Father, Your salvation is available to everyone who accepts Your Son as Savior and Lord. Help me spread Your Word so others will believe and become part of Your remnant when You return. In Jesus’ (Yeshuwa’s) name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 25 January 2024 by Valerie Routhieaux The image belongs to me.
