Day 13 – Blessing Genesis 12:1 Now the LORD (Jehovah) had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, from your family, and from your father’s house to a land I will show you. 2 I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you will be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you and curse him who curses you; and in you I will bless all the families of the earth.” 4 So Abram departed as the LORD (Jehovah) had spoken to him, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran. 5 Then Abram took Sarai his wife, Lot his brother’s son, all their possessions, the people whom they had acquired in Haran, and departed to go to the land of Canaan. So, they came to the land of Canaan. 6 Abram passed through the land to the place of Shechem, as far as the terebinth tree of Moreh. The Canaanites were then in the land. 7 Then the LORD (Jehovah) appeared to Abram and said, “To your descendants I will give this land.” There he built an altar to the LORD (Jehovah), who appeared to him. 8 He moved from there to the mountain east of Bethel, and he pitched his tent with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east; there he built an altar to the LORD (Jehovah) and called on the name of the LORD (Jehovah). 9 So Abram journeyed, going on still toward the South. God’s name: Jehovah – Self-existent, Eternal God’s character: Blesser When someone tells you to do something, do you do it in the exact manner you were told? Or do you do it your way? Jehovah told Abram to get out of the country, away from his family, away from his father’s house, and go to a country He would show him. There Jehovah would make him a great nation and bless those who blessed him and curse those who cursed him. Abram didn’t follow Jehovah’s instructions. He left the country, but he took his family and all their possessions with him. He didn’t leave them behind. He was seventy-five years old when Jehovah told him to leave his country and journey to Canaan. When Abram arrived in Canaan, Jehovah told him He would give him the land, and Abram built an altar to Jehovah. As he moved through the land, he built altars and called on Jehovah. Jehovah blessed Abram because he left his country, built altars to Him, and called on His name. One thing you want as Christians, is Jehovah’s blessing on your life. Yet, you also want to do life your way as Abram did. Jehovah blessed him, but how much more blessing could he have gotten if he had done exactly as Jehovah told him? You will never know. You only know Jehovah blessed him. Jehovah blessed Abram when He spoke to Him. When He did, Abram built an altar to Jehovah and called on His name. When Jehovah blesses you, do you offer Him a sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving for all He does for you? Do you build Him an altar? Do you listen for His voice? Or do you only hope to hear Him when He speaks to you? Many Christians fail to listen for His voice. They want His blessings without doing anything for them. Jehovah told Abram to do something. Abram did and Jehovah blessed him. What has Jehovah told you to do? Did you hear Him? Did you do what He asked of you? You might say, I don’t hear His voice, how am I to do what He asks when I don’t hear Him? When was the last time you opened God’s Word to read and study what it says? When was the last time you prayed with a sincere heart and waited for His answer? Or do you read a few verses, close your Bible, and congratulate yourself because you read your Bible? Do you fold your hands in prayer, give God a list of your wants, and congratulate yourself because you prayed? How can you receive Jehovah’s blessing when you don’t spend time with Him? You don’t visit a friend, say hello and leave, do you? That’s what you do with God. You open the door, say hello, then close it before He can come in and fellowship with you. You cannot know Jehovah’s heart if you don’t spend time with Him. Open your heart. Let Him in. Spend time with Him. Then you will hear His voice speak to you. You will know what He wants from you, and you will find it won’t be difficult but will bless you beyond your imagination when you obey Him. If you spend time with Jehovah, reading and studying His Word, praying, and listening for His voice, you know the blessings He gives you every day. Your life is filled with joy. You have a smile on your face, and you are always happy. What kind of life do you want? Do you want a life filled with Jehovah’s blessings? Or do you want to do life your way? The choice is always yours. One brings fulfillment and blessing. The other leaves you wondering when you will hear from Him. By the way, He wonders the same thing. He wonders when He will hear from you. He wants to bless you. Let’s pray: Father, let me know Your blessings as I read and study Your Word. Let me be a blessing to others as Your joy fills me to overflowing. Hear me when I pray and spend time with You. Let me hear Your voice in my meditation. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. In some parts of Scripture, it is implied that Satan rules much of this world. Luke, chapter, 4, verses 5, and 6. 'And the devil took him up and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time, and said to him, “To you I will give all this authority and their glory, for it has been delivered to me, and I give it to whom I will."' As this was the Devil speaking, he can not be believed though, as it seems that God still owned the world that he could give land to Abram. Jesus Christ did acknowledge that Satan was the Prince of this world though, for now. John, chapter 14, verse 30 (The New International Version) "I will not say much more to you, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold over me."

Yes, he does. When he caused Adam to sin, he in essence gave the title deed of the earth to Satan, which is why he could offer the kingdoms of the world to Jesus. Have a blessed day.

@just4him God, can still step in as, and when, he likes, or wants to do so, though, but mostly, he seems to be letting Satan pull the strings for now.
