Day 24 – Cast Off Genesis 21:1 The LORD (Jehovah) visited Sarah as He had said, and the LORD (Jehovah) did for Sarah as He had spoken. 2 For Sarah conceived and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God (Elohiym) had spoken to him. 3 Abraham called the name of his son who was born to him—whom Sarah bore to him—Isaac. 4 Then Abraham circumcised Isaac when he was eight days old, as God had commanded him. 5 Now Abraham was one hundred years old when Isaac was born to him. 6 Sarah said, “God has made me laugh, and all who hear will laugh with me.” 7 She also said, “Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? For I have borne him a son in his old age.” 8 So the child grew and was weaned. Abraham made a great feast on the same day Isaac was weaned. 9 Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she had borne to Abraham, scoffing. 10 Therefore, she said to Abraham, “Cast out this bondwoman and her son; for the son of this bondwoman will not be heir with my son, Isaac.” 11 The matter displeased Abraham because of his son. 12 God said to Abraham, “Do not let it be displeasing in your sight because of the lad or because of your bondwoman. Whatever Sarah said to you, listen to her voice; for in Isaac your seed will be called. 13 Yet I will also make a nation of the son of the bondwoman, because he is your seed.” 14 So Abraham rose early in the morning and took bread and a skin of water; and putting it on her shoulder, he gave it and the boy to Hagar, and sent her away. Then she departed and wandered into the Wilderness of Beersheba. 15 When they used up the water in the skin, she placed the boy under one of the shrubs. 16 Then she went and sat down across from him at about a bowshot; for she said to herself, “Let me not see the death of the boy.” So, she sat opposite him, and lifted her voice and wept. 17 God (Elohiym) heard the voice of the lad. Then the Angel of God (Elohiym) called to Hagar out of heaven, and said to her, “What ails you, Hagar? Fear not, for God (Elohiym) has heard the voice of the lad where he is. 18 Arise, lift the lad, and hold him with your hand, for I will make him a great nation.” 19 Then God (Elohiym) opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water. She filled the skin with water and gave the lad a drink. 20 So God (Elohiym) was with the lad; and he grew and dwelt in the wilderness and became an archer. 21 He dwelt in the Wilderness of Paran; and his mother took a wife for him from the land of Egypt. God’s name: Elohiym: Mighty God Jehovah – Self-existent, Eternal God’s character: Provider People cast off things they no longer want or need, giving them to thrift stores or someone who can use them. They don’t cast off people. Or do they? Many times, people decide friendships or liaisons they had are no longer favorable and cast them aside. Sarah bore Abraham a son as Elohiym said she would. When she weaned him, she saw Ishmael scoffing Isaac and told Abraham to get rid of Hagar and Ishmael, casting them from her sight. Elohiym told Abraham to listen to Sarah because his seed would be counted in Isaac. Therefore, Abraham did as Sarah requested, and sent Hagar and Ishmael from him with enough provisions for one day. When the provisions ran out, Hagar sat a bowshot, approximately fifty yards, from Ishmael because she didn’t want to see him die and wept. However, it wasn’t Hagar’s weeping Elohiym heard, but Ishmael’s. Elohiym told Hagar to go to Ishmael and take him back because He would make him a great nation. Then Elohiym provided a well for them to refresh themselves. Many Christians feel cast off by friends and other Christians. First, they feel cast off when they accept Jesus as Savior and Lord. Their friends don’t know what to make of them, and no longer associate with them or want anything to do with them. Then there are those who feel useless in the body of Christ because no matter how much they have to give to the body, nobody wants them. Elohiym has a place for you. He will never cast you off. Elohiym has plans for your life. Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and hope. 12 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. Korah felt cast down, disheartened by what he saw around him. Psalm 42:5 Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I will yet praise Him For the help of His countenance. When you put your hope and trust in Elohiym, He will deliver you and provide for you. You have nothing to fear. Elohiym will always take care of you. Let’s pray: Father, You promised to hear me when I cry out to You. When the world casts me aside, lift me in Your arms and give me the assurance of Your love, protection, and provision. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. I cast off several people that were two-faced and pretended to be my friends. Is that wrong? Have a blessed day.

That's a lovely message. Thank you for sharing. When it's a genuine and committed relationship and bonding, one does not cast off or is cast off by others. But unfortunately, people are now a days more into temporary fake relationships based on needs and desires.

You're welcome. I agree. Yes, people are more into themselves than others.

God was lenient with Ishmael in some ways, as he never punished him harshly for scoffing at Isaac, but allowed him to fulfil a part of his plan for the Jews too.
