Entertained by the Lost Quays

Last night, five of us went to Clancy’s Fish Pub in Fremantle, Western Australia, to listen to the Lost Quays, a men’s vocal group which specialises in sea shanties and songs. We had fish and chips for dinner, then listened to some very rousing sea shanties. They also had some walk-up acts which were also very entertaining. They group formed in 2015 and had a world tour in 2018. In April, will travel to Canberra to perform at the National Folk Festival. This event is by invitation only. The guy, lower left, is Vince’s doctor. His beard is just as long as in the photo but more pepper-and-salt in colour now. He is an excellent doctor and we feel privileged to be his patients. I've taken the photo from their Facebook page.

I wrote about him once before. He has an ear-ring, wears very colourful socks and corduroy trousers. But he is very thorough and very kind which are the important things.

@Ronrybs The guy on the right was very unassuming and quiet. We saw him sitting on a park bench outside the pub. We went early so as to be sure to get a seat. He actually looked a bit of a derro which is a pretty awful thing to say but appearances are all you have to go on sometimes. I just checked out their website and his name is Gerry Pore and he has Maori ancestry.

I love to listen to a good men's choir, there are so very few of the 'barbershop quartets' as they are often referred to as.

These took pains to say they weren't a barbershop group but I like both types of groups. I think barbershops are often four men but I'm not sure about that.

I don't thiink many of our doctors have such huge beards but he is very thorough and a very nice man so we don't mind his rather unconventional appearance.

The harmonies are really enjoyable to listen too and they all take turns taking the lead in different songs. I'm glad you checked them out and enjoyed them.
