Play doh and mechanical pencils

I probably will not give out the pencils, because they were for the larger classes that my student is associated with. I may save them for Easter or the end of school. I may just put them out in the classroom. These are colorful and have built in pencil grips to help hold the pencil the right way.
For our small group of kids in the " structure room" I got small containers of play doh.
I have enough that each kid can have his or her own color.
It is something that will stay with them even when the valentine candy is all gone.
Playing with modeling clay or play doh is therapeutic. Kids can be creative and it strengthens their hands for tasks like writing and keyboarding. It can help kiddos with autism not stim so much. It allows them to be creative on their own terms.
I bought a little candy for hubby and I.
Tomorrow I am riding the bus again. I will not be in the rooms for the parties.
Now I need to go to bed. Yes, my happy light does come up gradually. I still like it.

The kids will enjoy their play doh. I'm re-reading The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. It's written by a so-called autistic kid and it gives in insight into how they function - or don't, as the case may be. You might enjoy it, if you ever get time to read.

I need to make time to read. As many of my more experienced people have told me, if you have met one person with autism, you have met one person with autism. Each unique. People with neurodivergent tendencies are interesting and inspiring.

@GardenGerty One of our nieces has four boys all with varying degrees of autism. It must be incredibly difficult at times.

We have a kiddo with lots of behavior issues who is new to our program. He gets very intense about everything. We gave him all of his things he was taking home and when he saw the play doh, he said "Thank you! I was needing some play doh for something!" but I was glad to see how he reacted.

Some gifted candy. I had more than I needed. I enjoy doing something a little different.

Great ideas for Valentine's treats.
I thought of getting some treats for tomorrow, in case I got called. But then I thought I would eat them all?? if I didn't get called
And if course as I was going to bed, I did get called. Well, they'll have enough treats without me.

Actually I held off on giving out the pencils as I was not going to be in the classrooms at party time. I will give them out soon though. I also wanted to make sure that they were appropriate for a child I wanted to give them to.
