Love it when I'm at Walmart and go to check out.I walk past that long line at the self-checkout and get behind 2 people ahead of me in a Human cashier line. I want to wave at the people still in line at the self checkout as I walk out of the store. I even made a stop at the lottery machine and the people I past by going to the check out were Still in line. LOL

@capirani If only our Walmart would have had extra cashiers to begin with. Only two overwhelmed workers would be out front, with unending lines. Now, the same two cashiers have some help keeping the lines under control. Maybe they did take away jobs, but judging by the people on the floor, it sure doesn’t look like it. Two extra people do have the jobs of patrolling the self checkouts to make sure no one steals. If they were put at the checkouts we wouldn’t need the self checkouts to begin with. I guess that’s management for ya.

It does seem like sometimes the self check outs have more people in line than the regular check out.

It is always that way at the Walmart close to me. When there are so many people in that line, I have to wonder if maybe they may think they might get away with not paying for something. I'd say it would be pretty easy to do.

I think I am a rare person in that I have never had a problem in the check out at WalMart. I have never had to wait behind more than 2 people and usually I get the cashier who is looking for someone to check out. But I think that is because of the time I choose to shop. I do not like to go during the more busy times. Now that I need to use their motorized scooters, I go first thing in the morning when they are fully charged.

@Ghostlady When I still had a car, I had a handicap placard so I always parked close. But later I got dropped off at the door I wanted. Certain entrances had better charged scooters. But mornings or late evenings were always the best to find cashiers available.

Depending on the day of the month, I have better luck after 2pm finding a good parking place. And they aren't usually real busy. But on the 1st week of the month, the days around the 15th, I try to do my shopping elsewhere. This past week, I found a place to park close to the door, and had no wait time to check out. Love going at the end of the month.

I prefer using a cashier, but don't mind self-checkout.

@porwest If I'm being honest, I've found self-check out (at least at my local Winn-dixie) to be far more accessible then a tradational lane. Especially with my husband, my wheelchair and all the things. I know people need jobs, I strongly believe in it, too. But, I'm also all for inclusivity and accessibility. And, with the normal cashire lanes, I can't help my husband. Furthermore, when a cashier bags my groceries, I don't know what's in where. And, when me, the blind person, needs to put things away it makes it stressful.

I prefer using a human cashier but I will use the self checkoutd if the line at the cashier is too long.
