This is how far I've got with the frog painting. I did the water in the middle first. I mixed grey using black and white and put that down first, then I dropped in the blue when it was still wet. I left that to dry and did some to my flower painting. When I came back to the frog I made sure it was dry first, then I painted in the banks using burnt umber. While it was still wet I dropped in yellow ochre randomly on the right bank and in a streak on the left bank. Then I left it to dry again and did some more to the flower painting. When I came back to my frog painting I got out my acrylic inks. They are like acrylic paints but runnier. I got out a little palette that came with my black canvases and luminous paints to use with them because I thought they'd be too runny to use on the peel off palette. I put out some yellow and green and tested their colours, then mixed them together to see what colour that achieved. I added some red acrylic ink to the mix to make a brown. Following a demonstration in an art magazine where he's drawn a frog very similar to this one, I used a very thin mix of the brown to lay down initial washes on the frog, making sure not to touch the lighter areas.
