I’ve created a rod for my own back

Do you know that saying? It means to act in a way that will involve extra work or actions in the future. When we take photos at horse endurance rides, we process them in Lightroom. The improvement can be quite remarkable. I use a ‘fancy’ camera for these photos but otherwise I use my little ‘point and shoot’ which sometimes doesn’t take as nice a photo as I’d like. Just lately I’ve been processing the odd photo in Lightroom before I put it on myLot. Now I find I’m doing it more and more. If the photo isn’t of a certain standard, then I’m not happy with it and I’ll do more work on it in Lightroom. As I said, I’ve now created a rod for my own back. The photo was taken on a canal near Briare in France. The one on the left isn’t worth putting up but by the time I finished with it looked a lot better.

I never hard that expression. I often use Photoshop to correct the "errors" that I make when taking photos with my phone or my little camera.

@JudyEv It is a good tool to remove the "fog" and enhance the colours.

Photoshop is a good tool too when photos need to be improved a little.

Wow what a difference. I am a graphic designer so I do a lot of work like that but it still amazes me when I see the finished results. Well done.

It does surprise you when a very dark photo suddenly reveals all its hidden features.

It's hard to put up a very dark photo when you know that you can improve it.

I've never heard that expression, and at first read I thought it related to a back support... which I wouldn't mind at all, especially if it stretched me back up to my original 5'2"

I've been surprised before by expressions that people do or don't know but I'm surprised that no-one seems to know this.

Lightroom is just the name of a software tool. I guess maybe it is a specialised dark room.

The one on the left is very dark. You don't really see the edge of the river and the reflections.

It is indeed, so now every time a photo looks too dark, I try to improve it.
