Got a coupon in the mail

We shop at Dillons a lot (it is a kroger store.) Occasionally they send out coupons in the mail. Friday, or maybe Thursday, a mailer came promising $4.00 off a store brand ham in the style of our choice. Bob really wants that ham. Me, not so much. He went to Newton to check on a prescription, and get a ham. No more refills on the prescription, we are waiting for a response from the doctor. No hams available. Anywhere. When Bob chased people down he was told "We won't have those for about a month." I know I have seen hams there recently. Maybe not the store brand. I asked him to get 5 lbs of potatoes. He only saw 10 lbs., but when he moved a ten pound bag he found a five pound one. I wanted to try a different brand of coffee. I am feeling like ours is wimpy. The container is smaller, and the price is higher. We can hardly enjoy any little pleasures like a good cup of coffee. I am just flabbergasted about them mailing out coupons for things that are not in the store, though.

That's a bit deceitful in a way. I guess it gets people into the story looking for the coupon item and while they're there they'll probably buy something

I just feel like someone sent out the coupons before the stores were ready.

@GardenGerty The doctor said this about the latest shingles vaccine. The government was telling everyone to get their shots but the doctors had very little vaccine. We're still on a waiting list for that.

I'm surprised they would have a coupon for something that won't be available for another month. I'm glad you found the potatoes. Yes, prices are going up and packaging is decreasing. It's terrible. I hope today goes better.

I am pretty sure there was a communication failure somewhere along the line.

A lot of things come in smaller packages and for higher prices these days and I hate loss-leaders... I rarely get to the store soon enough to take advantage of them.

If there is something I really have to have, I manage to go on Sunday when we are in town.

I do not get the packets of coupons from my store anymore, but I see others who do. I get digital coupons every week, plus the occasional one like this one--a big, fancy, colorful single coupon.

Shame if the ham is not available and you have this coupon to spend.

Hubby really wants the ham. I could care less, we have plenty of food. I am sure it will come sometime.

@GardenGerty - I understand, men sometimes are like toddlers. My husband often does the same, he makes me check all the stores if he wants something and when I finally get the product he does not care!

They do that to get you in the store. No different than some of the great deals for black Friday where they only have a couple available

I am in the store about once a week anyway. I need to cut back. I cannot seem to get out of the store for less than $35.

That is downright weird. Do they think since they won’t have that item you’ll find something else to buy? It’s pretty unprofessional.

I think someone sent out the coupons too soon. I also think that employee is wrong. Easter is at the end of this month, so the hams will likely show up in two weeks.

I think they fooled themselves. The people who printed the coupons were not in touch with the stores that carry the products.

Maybe they had a supply chain problem or a shipping problem. Have a good week.
