Day 39 – Dreams
Genesis 40:1 It happened after these things that the butler and the baker of the king of Egypt offended their lord, the king of Egypt.
2 Pharaoh was angry with his two officers, the chief butler, and the chief baker.
3 He put them in custody in the house of the captain of the guard, in the prison, the place where Joseph was confined.
4 The captain of the guard charged Joseph with them, and he served them; so, they were in custody for a while.
5 Then the butler and the baker of the king of Egypt, who were confined in the prison, had a dream, each man’s dream in one night and each man’s dream with its own interpretation.
6 Joseph came in unto them in the morning and looked at them, and saw they were sad.
7 He asked Pharaoh’s officers who were with him in the custody of his lord’s house, saying, “Why do you look so sad today?”
8 They said to him, “We each have had a dream, and there is no interpreter of it.”
Joseph said to them, “Do not interpretations belong to God (Elohiym)? Tell them to me, please.”
9 Then the chief butler told his dream to Joseph, and said to him, “Behold, in my dream a vine was before me, 10 and in the vine were three branches; it was as though it budded, its blossoms shot forth, and its clusters brought forth ripe grapes. 11 Then Pharaoh’s cup was in my hand; and I took the grapes and pressed them into Pharaoh’s cup and placed the cup in Pharaoh’s hand.”
12 Joseph said to him, “This is the interpretation of it: The three branches are three days. 13 Within three days Pharaoh will lift your head and restore you to your place, and you will put Pharaoh’s cup in his hand according to the former manner, when you were his butler. 14 Remember me when it is well with you, and please show kindness to me; make mention of me to Pharaoh and get me out of this house. 15 For, indeed, I was stolen away from the land of the Hebrews; and I have done nothing here that they should put me into the dungeon.”
16 When the chief baker saw the interpretation was good, he said to Joseph, “I also was in my dream, and there were three white baskets on my head. 17 In the uppermost basket were all kinds of baked goods for Pharaoh, and the birds ate them out of the basket on my head.”
18 Joseph answered and said, “This is the interpretation of it: The three baskets are three days. 19 Within three days Pharaoh will lift off your head from you and hang you on a tree; and the birds will eat your flesh from you.”
20 Now it happened on the third day, which was Pharaoh’s birthday, he made a feast for all his servants; and he lifted the head of the chief butler and of the chief baker among his servants.
21 Then he restored the chief butler to his butlership again, and he placed the cup in Pharaoh’s hand.
22 But he hanged the chief baker, as Joseph had interpreted to them.
23 Yet the chief butler did not remember Joseph but forgot him.
God’s name:
Elohiym – Self-existent, Eternal
Ruwach – Breath
God’s character:
Dream interpreter
Everyone dreams. You either remember them or you don’t. Many people want to know what their dreams mean, they write them down and look for an interpretation. You can also find books on dream interpretations.
Joseph was confined in the house of the captain of the guard, Potiphar. While in prison, two of Pharaoh’s officers, the chief butler and chief baker were also confined to the prison. They dreamed dreams in the same night and woke up sad. When Joseph, who oversaw them, asked why they were sad, they told him their dreams. Joseph told them interpretations belong to Elohiym. Then he told them the interpretation of their dreams. He told the butler Pharaoh would restore him to his position in three days and in three days Pharaoh would hang the baker. It happened just as Joseph said it would.
One of the gifts of the Holy Spirit is dream interpretation. Elohiym will give dreams and visions to His people so they will know His heart.
Joel 2:28 “It will happen afterward that I will pour out My Spirit (Ruwach, roo'-akh) on all flesh; your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.”
You saw the fulfillment of Joel’s prophecy after the Holy Spirit (Ruwach) filled the apostles with His breath.
Acts 2:14 Peter, standing up with the eleven, raised his voice and said to them, “Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and heed my words. 15 For these are not drunk, as you suppose since it is only the third hour of the day. 16 This is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: 17 ‘It will happen in the last days, says God, that I will pour out of My Spirit (Ruwach) on all flesh; your sons and your daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.
The Holy Spirit (Ruwach) gave Joseph the interpretation of the dreams. He will give you the interpretation of your dreams when Elohiym gives you a dream or vision. You only need to look in one place for the interpretation.
Remember Satan will also give you dreams, nightmares. You need to guard against those dreams by placing the helmet of salvation on your head so nothing unholy will come against you.
Ephesians 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
13 Therefore, take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you can quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.
17 Take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.
Joseph wrapped himself in Elohiym’s armor which is why he could interpret the dreams for the butler and baker. When you wrap yourself in Elohiym’s armor, you too can interpret dreams because Elohiym will give you the interpretation.
Let’s pray: Father, thank you for giving me Your Holy Spirit so I can know the dreams You have for me. Help me wrap myself in Your armor so I will always know Your will for my life. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

I wonder why the baker had to go down the path to destruction.
A warning in a dream, usually can give us a chance to turn our life around, but the 3 days he had before he was killed did allow him to see the power of Joseph's God, so maybe he did have a change of heart, and became a better man from the dream interpretation too, who knows, but God.

@just4him Well, 3 days is a long time to think over his coming fate, but it could have gone either way; he might have become angry, and bitter towards God, and Joseph, or he might have seen the error in his past living, and tried to connect himself to Joseph's God.
His fate was already sealed, it seems, though, no matter which way he lived out those 3 days.

@innertalks I agree. It was already determined.
