Yesterday's shopping trip down town.

So yesterday I went down town shopping again. Before I went out I got everything I needed to take together, and made a list of everywhere I needed to go, because it was going to be a busy day. I got my cheque book out to cancel the deposit for the art class, and I got my cards out incase I needed those too. I got the envelope ready to post that contained the new deposit. I also got my exemption certificate out to go and get my repeat prescription. The list of places I needed to go included:- Bank, photo shop, Tesco, Holland and Barrett, repeat prescription, Iceland. Then I remembered I wanted to get something for my Mum for Mother's Day on Sunday, so I put that at the bottom of the list. I set off for shopping a little bit later than usual. I went to the toilet by the Cathedral first, and just before the turning to go to the toilet I saw a kitty cat. It was mainly white with a few brown markings on it's back. I said, hello kitty. It decided to go underneath one of the parked cars that were near by. I said if you're not careful you're going to get run over you silly kitty! After I'd been to the toilet I went to the bank to get the cheque stopped. When I went in a young lady came up and said, Can I help you? And I said, I need to stop a cheque that I think has got lost in the post. So she said hold on a minute, I'll just go and get my tablet. When she came back with her tablet, (tablet? It was more like a laptop!) we went and sat on the comfy sofa and I got out my cheque book and showed her which cheque I wanted cancelling. So she stopped that cheque and then asked me about the art class I was going to, so I told her all about it! Then I went to the photo expert shop and got another 15 photos printed to use as reference photos for my art. When they were printed and I went to the counter to pay the lady said, you come in here quite often, don't you? And I said yes. Then she told me about a loyalty card that they have where I can have 30 photos printed per month for a whole year for £30. No more to pay. She showed me the card, and it has a calendar like thing on it with 6 squares on each month representing 5 photos each. When you come in and get some photos printed they cross off how many you've had in multiples of 5. So I decided to go for it and payed my £30 and they crossed off 3 of the squares because I had 15 photos printed yesterday. Now I don't have to pay any more for photos till March 2025! I've worked it out. 15 photos is usually £7.50, so 30 is £15. That means £30 is just 2 months worth of photos! And the rest of the year is totally free! I've also worked out that I'm saving £150 a year on photos with having this card! I just have to keep the card in my purse handy for when I go in, because they don't keep a record of whose got one. After that I went to the down town Tesco again and got 2 lots of Strawberries and some Alpen cereal with no added sugar for me. Then I went to Holland and Barrett and got 3 lots of liquorice, 2 for me and 1 for my Mum, and I managed to get the black liquorice. Next I went to the post box that was just a few yards away from Holland and Barrett, and posted my new deposit for the art class. Then I went to get my repeat prescription from the new shop in The Three Spires Shopping centre. It was open now and I went in. It has a counter like a normal shop. I gave my exemption certificate to a lady and she went off to get my repeat prescription. She just asked me my address, I told her, and I was out of there. I didn't need to wait at all. And it was only 12:25pm when I went in there. No having to wait till 2:00pm or 2:30pm to go and get them! Then I went up to the stationary shop, I think it's called Rymans, to get some padded envelopes for posting paintings in when I start selling them. I went in and started looking around and I saw they had some painting materials. Watercolours, Acrylics, coloured pencils, graphite, soft pastels and oil pastels as well as beginners sets. I think they are only a few pounds more expensive than The Works. Then I saw what I was looking for. There were some in packs of 5, larger ones for £5.99 and smaller ones for £5.49. I took what I thought was suitable for A3 and A4 and went to the till. I asked the lady there if they were suitable for A4 and A3 and she checked and said yes, so I paid for them and added a large bag to put them in for 60p. After that I made my way back down The Three Spires Shopping centre, and I remembered I wanted to get something for my Mum for Mother's Day. So I went into Smart Ideas, even though I know it can be a bit expensive in there. I had a look round. I saw some of those sculptures of Mother and Child and friends etc, but I think the cheapest of those was like £26 or something, and I said you have GOT to be kidding me! Eventually I found a small box of Thornton's chocolates for £6 so I got that. Next I was going to go to the Oxfam book shop to have a look, but I saw the lady I sometimes talk to who is with the street preacher, so I stopped to have a chat with her. I told her about the business with the art class and the deposit going missing in the post. I also told her I'm going to be going to see Franklin Graham with my friends church in June. After I'd finished talking to her I went into the Oxfam book shop. I found two books, a book about drawing cats step by step, and a VERY big book which claims to be a complete art course in 12 lessons. It was like 3 bricks attached together! I looked for the price and it said £1.99 So I decided to get those. I went to the Sci-Fi section, but I couldn't see anything that interested me. There was no Isaac Asimov or Frank Herbert, and the only Arthur C Clarke was a hardback, and I prefer paperback, so I just got the two art books. The big one is VERY heavy and I told the cashier that I couldn't believe it was £1.99 . Then I went to Iceland (the shop, not the country!) and got my Mum a Chinese Style chicken curry and a sweet and sour chicken. My Mum didn't want a piella this week. So I payed for that and set off for home via the toilet by the Cathedral! I On the way home it was really windy by Stowe Pool and I was trying to push against it! When I got home I gave Mum her change, Tesco club card and shopping list. Then I unpacked the groceries and put them away. I had my lunch and watched some telly. Later I texted Sue to tell her I'd stopped the old cheque and posted the new one and I asked her to let me know when it arrives. So what have you lot been getting up to? I hope you are all well. Have a nice day and a wonderful weekend.

@sharonelton Busy girl you! We went for a picnic in the car followed by a two mile forest walk. It was cold and windy by the coast, but once in among the trees it was a lot warmer. I'm still looking for classes to go to in this new town we've moved to but all i can find are knitting classes and keep fit for ladies.
