Oh No, He Rolled Up His Sleeves

We have a going joke around here about our local weather guy, Steve Templeton, when he throws off the jacket and rolls up his sleeves, we know we have some doozies of some weather coming our way. "Stay away from windows and head for the basements," he likes to say. He says words like "tornadic activity," and you could make a drinking game out of how many times he says, "We're seeing some rotations." I am not going to lie. We do get tornadoes. We get some very severe weather. But even more entertaining than even the storms themselves is the coverage and the excitement Templeton gets when something is "happening." He really gets into it. Most of the time all of the tornadic activity, rotations, and "run to the basement" warnings turn out to be nothing. But I guess at least it is good we have a guy who is on top of things... And we can guage it all by the lack of a jacket and rolled up sleeves. lol

He obviously 'gets down to business' when the weather turns rough.

I don't know about you or any 1 else but I've been in some hairy conary weather, in fla, & I mean HURRICAN stuff, so when it comes to bad weather my attent is all about the weather. Our cell phone & tornato sirens have been going off like every few mins cause we have some major weather right over us.

I have seen some pretty severe weather, but not a LOT of stuff like hurricanes and tornadoes thankfully. When I was aboard the USS Enterprise we did sail through a hurricane though and headed for the eye.

@2ndchances24 It was kind of fun as I recall. In a scary way. But fun nonetheless. It was a huge aircraft carrier and so she handled herself well through it. We did incur a little damage like bent catwalks and broken hose reels...but we made it.

It is good to have someone on top of the warnings.

True. It always helps to provide a good laugh while your roof gets blown off. lol

Our local weather guy pretty much does the same thing. He gets all into "bad" weather especially when tv is interrupted for ongoing forecasts.

@porwest we don't get many tornado warnings here but we do get blizzards and hurricanes. So, the weather can become a prime time event for watching the weather folks do their thing.

Some of the funniest entertainment on tv is watching all these weather "experts" cream in their pants whenever severe weather happens. We see it every year in Florida when a hurricane is barreling down on us. These weather forecasters go nuts on tv. I'm surprised none of them have hemorrhaged right there in front of the cameras from their over excitement of the impending severe weather.

lol. I guess when your lease on life is being a weather nerd, a weather "event" is what really gets your excitement.

There were some doozies that came through last night. We only got one rumble of thunder and a downpour. Funny about Steve. Have a good weekend.

Glad to hear there was nothing too severe over there. Here too. But yeah, Steve gets pretty excited to say the least. He's a real weather nerd. I guess that's why he chose the profession he did. lol

Better to run to the basement for a fake warning that find yourself in the middle of a storm without a warning.

He sounds like a fun weather forecaster. Looks like you had some serious weather coming your way. Your serious weather only made it to Appleton. It didn't reach Green Bay.

That guy is doing a good job. The lady who reports weather on TV here looks too serious even the weather is good.

Can't say Templeton is not good at what he does. He DOES provide some entertainment though while doing it. lol
