Day 57 – JEHOVAH’S Mighty Power
Exodus 9:1 Then JEHOVAH said to Moses, “Go in unto Pharaoh and tell him, ‘Thus says the JEHOVAH Elohiym of the Hebrews, “Let My people go, that they may serve Me. 2 For if you refuse to let them go, and still hold them, 3 behold, the hand of JEHOVAH will be on your cattle in the field, on the horses, on the donkeys, on the camels, on the oxen, and on the sheep—a very severe pestilence. 4 JEHOVAH will make a difference between the livestock of Israel and the livestock of Egypt. Nothing will die of all that belongs to the children of Israel.”’”
5 Then JEHOVAH appointed a set time, saying, “Tomorrow JEHOVAH will do this thing in the land.”
6 JEHOVAH did this thing on the next day, and all the livestock of Egypt died; but of the livestock of the children of Israel, not one died.
7 Then Pharaoh sent, and indeed, not even one of the livestock of the Israelites was dead. Pharaoh’s heart became hard, and he did not let the people go.
8 JEHOVAH said to Moses and Aaron, “Take for yourselves handfuls of ashes from a furnace, and let Moses scatter it toward the heavens in the sight of Pharaoh. 9 It will become fine dust in all the land of Egypt, and it will cause boils that break out in sores on man and beast throughout all the land of Egypt.”
10 Then they took ashes from the furnace and stood before Pharaoh, and Moses scattered them toward heaven. They caused boils that break out in sores on man and beast.
11 The magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils, for the boils were on the magicians and on all the Egyptians.
12 JEHOVAH hardened the heart of Pharaoh; and he did not heed them, just as JEHOVAH had spoken to Moses.
13 Then JEHOVAH said to Moses, “Rise early in the morning and stand before Pharaoh, and say to him, ‘Thus says JEHOVAH Elohiym of the Hebrews, “Let My people go, that they may serve Me, 14 for at this time I will send all My plagues to your heart, and on your servants and on your people, that you may know that there is none like Me in all the earth. 15 Now if I had stretched out My hand and struck you and your people with pestilence, then you would have been cut off from the earth. 16 For this purpose I raised you up, that I may show My power in you, and that My name may be declared in all the earth. 17 As yet you exalt yourself against My people in that you will not let them go. 18 Behold, tomorrow about this time I will cause heavy hail to rain down, such as has not been in Egypt since its founding until now. 19 Therefore, send now and gather your livestock and all that you have in the field, for the hail will come down on every man and every animal which is found in the field and is not brought home; and they will die.”’”
20 He who feared the word of JEHOVAH among the servants of Pharaoh made his servants and his livestock flee to the houses.
21 But he who did not regard the word of JEHOVAH left his servants and his livestock in the field.
22 Then JEHOVAH said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward heaven, that there may be hail in all the land of Egypt—on man, on beast, and on every herb of the field, throughout the land of Egypt.”
23 Moses stretched out his rod toward heaven; and JEHOVAH sent thunder and hail, and fire darted to the ground. JEHOVAH rained hail on the land of Egypt.
24 So there was hail, and fire mingled with the hail, so heavy that there was none like it in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation.
25 The hail struck throughout the whole land of Egypt, all that was in the field, both man and beast; and the hail struck every herb of the field and broke every tree of the field.
26 Only in the land of Goshen, where the children of Israel were, there was no hail.
27 Pharaoh sent and called for Moses and Aaron, and said to them, “I have sinned this time. JEHOVAH is righteous, and my people and I are wicked. 28 Entreat JEHOVAH, that there may be no more mighty thunder and hail, for it is enough. I will let you go, and you will stay no longer.”
29 Moses said to him, “As soon as I have gone out of the city, I will spread out my hands to JEHOVAH; the thunder will cease, and there will be no more hail, that you may know that the earth is JEHOVAH’S. 30 As for you and your servants, I know that you will not yet fear JEHOVAH Elohiym.”
31 Now the flax and the barley were struck, for the barley was in the head and the flax was in bud.
32 But the wheat and the spelt were not struck, for they are late crops.
33 Moses went out of the city from Pharaoh and spread out his hands to JEHOVAH; then the thunder and the hail ceased, and the rain was not poured on the earth.
34 When Pharaoh saw that the rain, the hail, and the thunder had ceased, he sinned yet more; and hardened his heart, he, and his servants.
35 So the heart of Pharaoh was hard; neither would he let the children of Israel go, as JEHOVAH had spoken by Moses.
God’s name:
JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
Elohiym – Mighty God
Yeshuwa - Jesus
God’s character:
Judge
Merciful
Mashiyach – Savior
Lord - Master
As children bullies would harass you and ask you to give in or cry ‘uncle’. It took a lot before the person gave in. Since those childhood days, you often found yourself in situations when you felt forced to cry ‘uncle’. Yet you held out a little longer, hoping things would change and you would see reprieve in your circumstances. It would come, but it wouldn’t last. You soon found yourself in a new set of circumstances.
JEHOVAH sent Moses to Pharaoh to let him know He wasn’t finished with the plagues he brought upon him and Egypt. He told Pharaoh He brought the plagues upon Pharaoh for one reason: to show His mighty power and that He alone was JEHOVAH, no one else. He brought on Pharaoh plagues of blood, frogs, lice, flies, pestilence on livestock, boils, and hail. Pharaoh told Moses and Aaron he would let the people go a couple of times but hardened his heart again as soon as the plague ended. He wasn’t ready to give in to JEHOVAH Elohiym and let Israel go.
How do you see JEHOVAH? Do you see Him as JEHOVAH Elohiym who will stop at nothing to force you to do His will? How far have you strayed from JEHOVAH? When you accepted Yeshuwa as your Mashiyach and Master, you answered the gentle knock on the door of your heart. He didn’t force His way into your life.
Revelation 3:20 “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in unto him and dine with him, and he with Me.”
Once you accepted Yeshuwa as Mashiyach and Master, you committed your life to His service. JEHOVAH has the right to do whatever it takes to bring you back into fellowship with Him. It might seem like you go from one crisis to another with no end in sight. However, when you realize JEHOVAH sent trouble upon you, not to destroy you but to bring you back into fellowship with Him, reach out to Him and He will forgive you and show you His mercy and forgiveness.
JEHOVAH Elohiym loves you. He doesn’t want to see you suffer, but He wants your obedience to Him and will do whatever it takes to bring you back to His side. Trust Him. Have faith that He will never harm you. Let His love reach in and soften your heart and bring you back to Him. Then you will see and know His love for you. When you do, you will never stray from Him again.
Let’s pray: Father, let Your love reach down and soften my heart. Let me praise You because of Your great love for me. Let me show You my love for You in my obedience and trust in You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
