Day 58 – Control Exodus 10:1 JEHOVAH said to Moses, “Go in unto Pharaoh; for I have hardened his heart and the hearts of his servants, that I may show these signs of Mine before him, 2 and that you may tell in the hearing of your son and your son’s son the mighty things I have done in Egypt, and My signs which I have done among them, that you may know that I am JEHOVAH.” 3 So Moses and Aaron came in unto Pharaoh and said to him, “Thus says JEHOVAH Elohiym of the Hebrews, ‘How long will you refuse to humble yourself before Me? Let My people go, that they may serve Me. 4 Or else, if you refuse to let My people go, behold, tomorrow I will bring locusts into your territory. 5 They will cover the face of the earth, so that no one will be able to see the earth; and they will eat the residue of what is left, which remains to you from the hail, and they will eat every tree which grows up for you out of the field. 6 They will fill your houses, the houses of all your servants, and the houses of all the Egyptians—which neither your fathers nor your fathers’ fathers have seen, since the day they were on the earth to this day.’” He turned and went out from Pharaoh. 7 Then Pharaoh’s servants said to him, “How long will this man be a snare to us? Let the men go, that they may serve JEHOVAH their Elohiym. Do you not yet know that Egypt is destroyed?” 8 So Moses and Aaron were brought again to Pharaoh, and he said to them, “Go, serve JEHOVAH your Elohiym. Who are the ones that are going?” 9 Moses said, “We will go with our young and our old; with our sons and our daughters, with our flocks and our herds we will go, for we must hold a feast to JEHOVAH.” 10 Then he said to them, “JEHOVAH had better be with you when I let you and your little ones go! Beware, for evil is ahead of you. 11 Not so! Go now, you who are men, and serve JEHOVAH, for that is what you desired.” They were driven out from Pharaoh’s presence. 12 Then JEHOVAH said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the land of Egypt for the locusts, that they may come upon the land of Egypt, and eat every herb of the land—all that the hail has left.” 13 Moses stretched out his rod over the land of Egypt, and JEHOVAH brought an east wind on the land all that day and all that night. When it was morning, the east wind brought the locusts. 14 Locusts went up over all the land of Egypt and rested on all the territory of Egypt. They were severe; previously there had been no such locusts as they, nor will there be such after them. 15 For they covered the face of the whole earth, so that the land was darkened; and they ate every herb of the land and all the fruit of the trees which the hail had left. So there remained nothing green on the trees or on the plants of the field throughout all the land of Egypt. 16 Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron in haste, and said, “I have sinned against JEHOVAH your Elohiym and against you. 17 Now, therefore, please forgive my sin only this once, and entreat JEHOVAH your Elohiym, that He may take away from me this death only.” 18 He went out from Pharaoh and entreated JEHOVAH. 19 JEHOVAH turned a strong west wind, which took the locusts away and blew them into the Red Sea. There remained not one locust in all the territory of Egypt. 20 But JEHOVAH hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he did not let the children of Israel go. 21 Then JEHOVAH said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, darkness which may be felt.” 22 So Moses stretched out his hand toward heaven, and there was thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days. 23 They did not see one another; nor did anyone rise from his place for three days. But the children of Israel had light in their dwellings. 24 Then Pharaoh called to Moses and said, “Go, serve JEHOVAH; only let your flocks and your herds be kept back. Let your little ones also go with you.” 25 Moses said, “You must also give us sacrifices and burnt offerings, that we may sacrifice to JEHOVAH our Elohiym. 26 Our livestock also will go with us; not a hoof will be left behind. For we must take some of them to serve JEHOVAH our Elohiym, and even we do not know with what we must serve JEHOVAH until we arrive there.” 27 JEHOVAH hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he would not let them go. 28 Then Pharaoh said to him, “Get away from me! Take heed to yourself and see my face no more! For the day you see my face you will die!” 29 Moses said, “You have spoken well. I will never see your face again.” God’s name: JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal Elohiym – Mighty God Yeshuwa – Jesus God’s character: Judge Mashiyach – Savior Master – Lord You know people who won’t back down from their beliefs and philosophies no matter what comes their way. Even when the proof is in front of them, they still deny what their eyes see. What will it take to change the person’s mind and show them the truth? JEHOVAH had brought nine plagues against Pharaoh, and after each, Pharaoh relented a little bit. He told Moses and Aaron he had sinned only once. He told them he would let only the men leave to worship JEHOVAH, but he never fully intended to let Israel go. He wanted to hold control over Israel. JEHOVAH hardened Pharaoh’s heart so He could show him His mighty power, break down his resolve, and show him that He alone was in control. Do you hold control over your life and everyone in it? Do you make a show of giving a small portion of control to someone else, with stipulations? What will it take to give up control to someone else? Many Christians want to control everything in their lives too. They have a set way of doing things, whether it’s in ministry or the home. They believe they honor Elohiym by their behavior, however, the only person they honor is themselves. When you committed your life to Elohiym and accepted Yeshuwa as your Mashiyach and Master, you told Elohiym He had control over your life. Did you give Him control, or did you only say you gave Him control? Elohiym wants your full devotion to Him. He will accept nothing less. When you realize the problems you face is because you hold control over your life and everyone and everything in it, and relinquish control to Elohiym, you will know the full sense of peace in your life. Your troubles will vanish, and joy will fill your heart and life. Satan wants you to hold onto everything in your life with a tight fist. He plants thoughts of control in your ear with his promises that your life couldn’t be better than what it is. As he plants thoughts and ideas in your head, he has control over your life, not you. Who do you want to have control over your life? Elohiym or Satan? If Elohiym, turn over your control and watch Him work in your life to free you from slavery to sin and Satan. If you don’t want to change your ways, you’re allowing Satan to control everything in your life. Don’t let your words of love and devotion to Elohiym be words only while you hold onto your life with tight control. Listen to the words you say. Who do they edify? Confess your sin of control to Elohiym and give Him first place in your life. When you do, you will feel the freedom of life in Elohiym. Let’s pray: Father, help me turn over control of my life to You. Free me from the bonds Satan has bound me with and let me see what life can be like with You in control. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
