The grumpy old man is trying to...

...be friendly today. As usual, I wake up at 5:30 AM to prepare my niece's packed lunch. All of a sudden, a figure came in front of my kitchen's window. Guess what? It is the grumpy old man. There is no confrontation or anything. He just offered a ride for the kid and my younger brother to go to the city proper. Unfortunately, it is too early for them to go with him. It seems like he is trying to get acquainted with us and be friendly. Thus, silent treatment is an effective way to tame a grumpy individual. Do you sometimes use silent treatment for others to change? Image Credit: mir-s3-cdn-cf.behance.net

He will be gone soon right? Yes I don't talk to those that I dislike.

Just imagine that he just popped out in front of my kitchen windows. I think it is weird and not my style to entertain someone who is doing this kind of behavior. He must be checking me out while doing something in the kitchen.

I am just trying to stay away from him as much as possible. Even the rest of my family is doing so. It is better this way to interact with him actively.

I have, but I have not expected others to change. So, I don't know about change. I have done it if I just hadn't felt like talking to someone.

I guess he will not change. Perhaps he will just make a distance away from us. I really cannot push myself to chat with him in any situation.

That proves that he is not as bad as you thought he is.

I hope so. Sometimes people can be deceiving. I doubt if he is really this person based on what my landlord's wife is claiming about his real persona.

@Shavkat - Some people are grumpy because it's their personal way to avoid to have contact with other people.

Do you trust the grumpy old man? Is it safe for your kids to go somewhere with him?

I agree with you. It is also not our personas to let others be in touch or be close to our kids. As you mentioned, I cannot trush him in the first place.

@Shavkat Sadly, you have to be suspicious of other people, especially regarding your kids.

That was nice of him I guess but it would be hard to trust his motives.

This is what I am thinking about. When he was talking to me, I noticed that he was not looking at me. I know he is not trustworthy in my eyes.

I try very hard to avoid anyone who is grumpy. That is all that you can do.

You said it right. I never tried to be in touch with him or even show gestures to him. Whenever I am going out, I use my earphones and listen to music. Then, I just walked through.

I gave the silent treatment to my mother a few days ago because I was very mad at her. I'm no longer mad at her.

I think it is normal to feel this way. At some point, it gives time to think it over.
