Do you forget things.

Do you walk into a room. Look around the room and wonder what you went into that room for? Do you go grocery shopping and decided not to write a list that you can remember everything. Than you get into the store and you do not remember anything that you wanted to get. Have you ever wanted one thing so you go into a store and than you leave the store without the one thing that you went to get. It is natural for all of us to forget something every once in a while.

Unless I am going to a store for just one specific item, I write it down. It's easy to forget things when you are in a hurry or stressed out, I learned that years ago. Like you, I think it is more than natural for everyone to forget something, sometimes.

@jstory07 It just saves so much time and energy, so I refuse to go without my list.

I do all these things. I think most are just part of the ageing cycle. I always make a shopping list nowadays.

I make a shopping list now. If I forget one thing going back to the store means buying more than that one thing.

@jstory07 Yes, it's hard to go into a store for just one thing.

I have done all but forgetting everything on my list. I really hate it when I do the last one. It’s irritating to arrive home without the main thing you wanted to get.

This seems to be happening more often to me lately. For example, I put on a mask to prepare to go out, then wander around looking for a mask! Oh my God !

Unfortunately YES! It happens more and more, I go to a room with a specific purpose and once I am there I cannot remember why I went there.

I'm always forgetting odd things. My memory is quite good overall but there are lots of times I'll forget a word or forget what I was doing. I forgot the word for cooker yesterday and I called it a hot fridge!

@jstory07 Sometimes I will say that I need to remember so much stuff that it pushes out some of what my brain deems less important! There was an episode of The Simpsons in which a character said that every time they learnt something new, it pushed the old stuff out. I definitely feel like that at times!

I do all those things all the time! But with groceries, I got into the habit of making a running list and taking it with me so I could cross things off . . . I don't do that with everything .

It's called being human. We're not robots, we're not designed to remember everything.

I was born scatterbrained and had a relapse. Seriously, if they had tested me “back then” they would have probably diagnosed me with ADHD. The caboose is always dislodging from my train of thought. I’m not worried about it, because as I said, it’s not a “getting older” problem I’m sorry, what was the question?

I love the photo of the geese, I try to train my brain every day. I find that if I do forget something sometime later it pops into my mind, I order groceries online once a month and always before that I have a list ready and I can pick and choose what I want do I know how much it will come to and I get most of what I need,

As we get older, several things competes for attention, and this affects memory. I think this is natural.
