Dollar Tree Isn't A Dollar Anymore

Dollar Tree raised their prices awhile back. But things are still quite affordable.
In my area people seem to call all of these stores by the same name: The Dollar Store. This name goes for Dollar Tree, Dollar General, Family Dollar, and others that have the word Dollar in their names. So when they talk about going to the Dollar Store, you don't know which store they are talking about until you ask them.
What Dollar Stores do you have in your area and do you like shopping there? What kinds of products do you like to shop for at your Dollar Stores?

I would hope that, by now, people would have learned NOT to name a store after a price. It goes all the way back to the days of the “5 & dime stores,” where everything was 5c or 10c. Then you had “Dollar General Store” (everything for a dollar), Motel 6 ($6 room), Super 8 ($8 room), Dollar Tree, and now “Five Below”….which has an over-$5 section.

Oh when I was growing up we had a dime store. Not everything was a dime at all. But everyone knew that the items in the store were very inexpensive. Calling the store the "Dime Store" was not the name of the store. People just called them that as nicknames. Examples still exist such as Woolworth's, etc. Our dime store had the name of the family that owned it, I think.

I do most of my shopping online at Walmart. I haven't been to a Dollar Store in decades. Have a good day.

We have all of them you named. I don't shop them a lot.
